A vehicle linked to Juan Guillermo Almeida (JG), son of the late Commander of the Revolution Juan Almeida Bosque, would be involved in a traffic accident that occurred in Santiago de Cuba, according to information published this Monday by communicator Yosmany Mayeta Labrada on Facebook and comments from internet users.
Mayeta clarified that she has had the information for days but was unable to publish it earlier due to a lack of images: "I've had the information for days that one of JG's cars hit a man in Santiago. But, due to the lack of images, I haven't been able to publish it."
Additionally, he/she requested photos and more information about the incident.
However, neither the communicator nor the internet users specify whether JG was driving the vehicle or if it was only associated with the artist.
According to comments on the post, the incident reportedly occurred at the intersection of 2nd and Escario streets, popularly known as "the corner of death," around April 30, one day before another accident recorded at the same location.
That same corner became tragically prominent when a young doctor died there on May 1 after being struck by a car, making that intersection a hotspot for accidents in the city.
Several commentators claim that the victim, a man from the Chicharrones area, is hospitalized at the Saturnino Lora provincial hospital. “He is hospitalized in the provincial hospital,” wrote Lis Rodríguez.
Maritza Llarena added that "the man is in a reserved state (serious or critical)," while Rebeca Aurora Junco Massieu, who claims to know the injured man, reported him as "serious."
Junco Massieu stated, "He is the brother of a neighbor of mine and was reported to be in serious condition. May God place His hand and may he recover soon."
For his part, Nolandis Geralde Sabigne said: "Today I learned about that case, it’s reported to be serious at the military hospital. It’s from here, from Chicharrones. They say he has everything he needs in terms of medication and transportation available, that’s why they're being quiet; there must be some money involved."
A nurse from Saturnino Lora reported anonymously that in recent hours JG has been seen at the medical center, along with people from his circle interested in the case, suggesting that —at the very least— his vehicle is involved.
The same informant indicated that State Security is monitoring the case and that the version circulating internally, without confirmation, is that JG was driving at the time of the accident.
In the Santiago community, two versions are circulating: one directly points to JG as the driver, while the other suggests that only his car was involved.
None have been verified –or denied– by either the artist or the local authorities.
JG is a regular figure in Santiago de Cuba, where he has several businesses spread throughout the city, which would explain his frequent presence in the province.
His status as the son of one of the historic commanders of the Revolution makes him a figure with connections in the highest echelons of Cuban power, and with protection.
That privileged position is pointed out by some commentators as a factor that could influence the handling of the case.
"That's not new; about 15 years ago he did the same thing here in Mayabeque and nothing happened," wrote Lairovis Batista Inza, referring to a previous incident that had no consequences for the artist.
As of the time of this publication, JG has neither confirmed nor denied the events on their social media. Cuba recorded 750 fatalities in traffic accidents during 2025, in a context of high road accident rates that particularly affects the eastern provinces.
JG's brother, Juan Juan Almeida, lives in Miami and has been critical of the Cuban regime, a stance that is diametrically opposed to that of his brother, who maintains ties with the official structures on the Island.
