A young Cuban woman identified as Leandra Santana Bueno became a trending topic on Instagram after sharing an emotional reel in which she recounts how she met her partner Andrés Borges through Twitter, a story that ended in marriage and went viral this week.
The reel posted last Monday accumulated more than 208,000 views and nearly 26,000 reactions in just a few days, along with hundreds of comments from followers excited about the story.
Leandra described the journey she took with Andrés using words that resonated with her followers: "Now he is my whole world. It has been a long journey, filled with reunions and goodbyes, but it has definitely been the happiest journey of my life. I love you, today and always.”
The couple formalized their union on August 12, 2025, in an evening ceremony held at an event hall decorated with floral arches, hanging lights, and white balloons.
Leandra wore a strapless white dress with a lace veil and pearl accessories, while Andrés sported a bluish-green suit with a white shirt and a black bow tie.
The ceremony included the exchange of rings, the signing of the marriage certificate, and the first dance of the newlyweds.
On September 25, 2025, Leandra posted a gallery of wedding photos with a dedication that summarized what Andrés means to her: "A man who has been tailor-made for me. Those who have seen me by his side know that I am a completely different person because Andrés makes me shine, brings out my best version, my best smile."
In that same post, Leandra wrote: "On August 12, I became Mrs. Borges, beneath the tears of a sky that blessed our union. A title that sounds as important as it is, because the day you get married, something changes within you; the couple becomes a family."
The story of Leandra is not an isolated case. In recent months, several Cuban women have shared their own stories of digital love on social media: a Cuban woman who met her Spanish husband thanks to a piece of paper in her bag, a young woman whose Latvian partner proposed on the first day they met, and the influencer Daniela Reyes, who revealed that she started a relationship with someone she met online.
Twitter/X, in particular, has been the setting for several public romances within the Cuban community, including that of the boxer Yordenis Ugás, who revealed his relationship through that platform.
The trend reflects how, in a context of migration and separation, social networks have become an unexpected space for many Cubans to find love.
Leandra concluded her dedication to Andrés with a promise that encapsulates their entire story: "I treasure this day in my heart and I would get married a thousand times more as long as it is him who waits for me at the end of the aisle."
