The family of Yanet Soto Castellanos, the Cuban woman who disappeared with her newborn baby in Havana, spoke out this Tuesday to publicly clarify several allegations that have emerged on social media as the distressing search for the young woman continues, with no news about her for weeks.

“We, as a family, want to clarify to everyone who comments on the posts without knowing the reasons for her absence from home,” stated Hipólito Scull, Yanet's uncle, in a statement sent to journalist .

According to their explanation, the family is not directly holding any institution responsible; they simply want to find the young woman to be able to help her.

"We are not blaming any institution. We just want to know her whereabouts so we can help her as the family we are. Up to this minute, no one has called to say anything," he affirmed.

Hipólito also clarified that agents from the Zapata police station did contact the family this Tuesday to inquire if they had managed to find her, although they did not provide any updates on the case.

The family also wanted to clarify that Yanet is originally from the Isle of Youth and that she traveled to Havana in October 2025 due to a romantic relationship. She later returned briefly to the Isle but decided to go back to the capital alone.

"In November, she returned to the Island, where she spent a few days with her family. When the family saw that she wanted to go back to Havana alone, they went to the PNR of the Island seeking help," explained Hipólito.

According to their testimony, at that time the police responded that Yanet was of legal age and had not committed any offense that justified preventing her from traveling.

The family member also denied reports suggesting abandonment by those close to him.

"I want to clarify that at no point was she left alone; she hid where she was living and her pregnancy," she stated.

The family also revealed that Yanet left a four-year-old son in Isla de la Juventud, under the care of his father and grandmother, before returning to Havana. Over time, they completely lost contact with her.

The birth of her baby became known thanks to a friend who saw her at the Ramón González Coro Gyneco-Obstetric Hospital and informed the family.

“We learned that she had given birth from a friend from the Island who saw her in the hospital,” Hipólito said. “We went to the hospital, and by that same day, she had already been discharged.”

Since then, family and friends have been conducting an intense search on social media and are asking for public help to locate her.
