Payaso x Ley cleared up all doubts with a 32-second video: the Cuban artist recorded himself in the shower singing a cappella the famous operatic intro of his song "Un Tin," and the result confirms that behind that lyrical voice lies a high-level musical production.
Since the song was released, many fans were wondering if it was really him singing that part or if it had been someone else with classical training. The clip, published on April 25, answers the question: yes, it is his voice, but the difference between the raw version and the produced one is staggering.
In the video, Payaso x Ley's voice sounds notably different and off-key compared to the recorded version, highlighting the processing and production work that transformed that material into the intro that everyone is listening to today.
«Un Tin» was released on April 20 under the Befocus Music label, featuring collaboration from Rowell Urban and production by Ernesto Losa. The artist himself describes it as «opera-infused distribution», an unprecedented fusion that no one has attempted before within the genre.
This is the first documented instance of Cuban performers merging with classical European operatic singing. The genre, which originated in Havana around 2007, incorporates elements of timba, rumba, and guaguancó, but had never crossed into opera before.
The bet turned out to be a phenomenon. "Un Tin" has amassed over 4.6 million views and nearly 48,000 likes on YouTube, and a 45-second clip of the operatic part went viral on social media, generating dozens of reels.
The impact reached every corner of the Cuban community. A grandmother from the account @julia.martin.juli, known as "The Grandmother of the Neighborhood," danced "Un Tin" in a video that surpassed 154,000 views on TikTok, and another clip from @la_mas_viral_de_cuba featuring a grandmother dancing to the song also exceeded 150,000 views.
The shower video, released just four days after the official music video, arises in this context of massive curiosity about the authenticity of the operatic voice and becomes an unintentional demonstration of the power of modern music production.
Payaso x Ley boasts 956,500 monthly listeners on Spotify and his previous track, “Las Ganas” featuring Musteerifa, surpassed five million views on YouTube. With “Un Tin,” the artist solidifies his position as one of the most creative representatives of the current Cuban scene.
A user on YouTube summarized it like this since the day of the release: "The song is going to hit big mainly because of the intro; they should have blown it up as the chorus, and they would have broken the clock."
