Eduardo Antonio, known as "El Divo de Placetas," returned to Miami this Friday after leaving La Casa de los Famosos 6 on Telemundo, and he had an emotional political moment as he knelt and kissed the ground at Miami International Airport, before delivering a powerful message against the Cuban regime.
In statements given to Telemundo 51 upon his arrival at the airport, the Cuban singer stated: "I want to thank all Cubans, all Latinos, all of Puerto Rico who have been with me, and to the entire world I will shout down with the dictatorship because that regime must come to an end and Cuba must be free."
The gesture of kissing the ground, which El Divo usually performs upon arriving in Mexico, was this time brought to Miami with a special symbolic significance.
"And now I am going to kneel as I do when I go to Mexico and kiss the ground of Mexico. I am going to kiss my floor in Miami," declared the artist, who added: "I gave my life in that house. I gave my joy, I gave my feelings. I gave my struggles, because life has struggles. I gave empathy and I spoke the truth."
El Divo also spoke about the moment when he asked the production team to notify him if the Cuban regime fell, so he could celebrate it inside the house.
"That hasn't happened yet, but I know it will happen very soon," he asserted with conviction.
Eduardo Antonio was eliminated on May 5 in a final duel against actor Horacio Pancheri, who received more votes from the public and returned to the competition.
The Cuban singer had remained in the program for 77 days as one of the 21 contestants of the season competing for a prize of $200,000.
Throughout his 12 weeks on the reality show, he was nominated multiple times but was always saved by the overwhelming votes of his fandom, the "Team Divo."
His return to Miami thus became more than just the arrival of a reality show participant; it was a political act before the cameras, with a direct message to the regime that has ruled the island for more than six decades.
