The eighth eliminated contestant from "La Casa de los Famosos 6" on Telemundo this Monday was Laura Zapata, after losing the audience vote battle against Eduardo Antonio, El Divo de Placetas, in what viewers deemed a "historic" gala that "marks a turning point."
The Mexican actress had been in the competition for 56 days when the public decided her elimination during a special week in which the entire house was nominated, except for Laura G, who had immunity as the leader and used it to save Stefano Piccioni from nomination.
Social media exploded in response to the outcome, as for many, the confrontation between the two within the reality show had already reached extreme levels. It was clear that Laura did not expect to be the one eliminated, while El Divo demonstrated true class by greeting her at the moment of her elimination.
"The imposition, the silent manipulation is gone. That controlling energy, where many stopped being themselves out of fear, strategy, or simple survival, is fading," assessed a content creator on social media, a sentiment with which many agree.
It is not the first time that the public has saved the Divo de Placetas. On several occasions, his fanbase has responded en masse to save him from elimination and keep him in the show.
The elimination of Zapata unleashed a wave of celebration among the followers of the Cuban artist, who flooded social media with messages of support. "He is the soul of that house, without him there is no show. We experienced a lot of tension, but justice has been served. Congratulations, Divo de Cuba," wrote a supporter.
Other comments were equally strong. "The best elimination in the entire history of La Casa de los Famosos, historical!!! Go Divo, we love you!!!," posted another fan. A third highlighted the singer's attitude during the gala: "Look at Divo's reaction, super gentlemanly; you could even tell he was affected. The fourth earth respected the pain of the fourth water, but if it had been the other way around, I’m sure they wouldn’t have done the same."
Zapata herself broke the silence following her exit with statements that revealed her surprise at the result. "I'm not leaving because I played badly, I'm leaving because the audience decided" that I should go, the Mexican actress stated.
With Zapata's exit, there are 13 participants left in the competition vying for the $200,000 prize. Will El Divo win this edition of La Casa de los Famosos? We just have to wait and see.
