José Daniel Ferrer: "I doubt that the high command of the tyranny will accept that their time has run out."

José Daniel Ferrer asserted that a military action by the U.S. against the Cuban regime "will happen" and that 80% of Cubans want the regime to fall.

The Cuban opposition leader José Daniel Ferrer stated that a military action by the United States against the Cuban regime "will happen," and he doubts that the high command of the dictatorship will willingly cede power. He made these statements in an interview with activist and content creator Magdiel Jorge Castro, published this Saturday.

"It's going to happen, I repeat, it's going to happen because I have doubts, doubts, perhaps I'm wrong, I hope I'm wrong, but I doubt that those in Reilen, the high command of the tyranny, will accept that their time is up, and that they have to make way for the transition, for democracy, now," declared Ferrer, founder of the Cuban Patriotic Union (UNPACU).

The opposition figure warned that if the regime clings to power, the consequences will be inevitable: "If they cling to power, they will be removed like Maduro or they will end up like Maduro, but they will lose power."

Ferrer assured that President Donald Trump has the “full” support of the Cuban opposition, and went further by quantifying the popular backing: “I can guarantee without fear of being wrong that at least 80%, and even more, wish for him to be removed from power in one way or another, but as soon as possible, because the terrible situation in Cuba is something that the majority of Cubans can no longer endure alone.”

The opposition leader called for unity among those fighting for the democratization of the island: "What matters is that we, the players who are fighting for the democratization of Cuba, are living more united and as well-coordinated as possible to ensure that this process moves in the direction we want. Total democratization of Cuba, complete transition to democracy, and the immediate start of a serious national reconstruction process."

Ferrer’s statements come at a time of heightened tension between Washington and Havana. Last Thursday, the CIA Director, John Ratcliffe, traveled to Havana on a surprise visit confirmed by both the Cuban government and the agency itself, which published unusual photographs of the meeting.

Ratcliffe met with senior officials from the Cuban Ministry of the Interior, including Raúl Rodríguez Castro, grandson of Raúl Castro, and conveyed a message from Trump conditioning any dialogue on Cuba making "fundamental changes."

Days earlier, Trump had posted on Truth Social, “Cuba asks for help, and we are going to talk!” to which Díaz-Canel responded that Cuba is “always open to dialogue.” The U.S. president had also stated on April 17 in Phoenix, Arizona, that “a new dawn for Cuba will come very soon.”

The backdrop of these tensions is a Cuba facing an energy collapse. The Minister of Energy, Vicente de La O Levy, stated on Thursday that the island has no reserves of fuel oil or diesel for electricity generation, with power outages lasting between twenty and 25 hours daily in several areas and affecting more than 55% of the territory.

In previous weeks, Ferrer had already stated that the United States has "all the strength" to end the regime, citing an independent survey with 42,263 responses in which 60.9% supported direct military intervention and 64.9% endorsed toppling the regime "by any means necessary, including armed methods."
