Sandro Castro opens the Pandora's Box of the Village... but it is empty

Sandro Castro promised to reveal secrets about Los Aldeanos but said nothing: his Instagram story was all smoke amid the conflict between Aldo and El B.

Sandro Castro, grandson of dictator Fidel Castro, promised yesterday to reveal secrets about the context of Los Aldeanos and ultimately said nothing: his story on Instagram turned out to be all smoke, with not a single concrete revelation about the conflict between Aldo el Aldeano and El B.

It all started on Tuesday when Sandro posted a story that ignited social media: “I think I’ll talk about the Village or maybe I’ll leave things in the Pandora's Box”, a phrase interpreted as a veiled threat to expose compromising information about Aldo's circle, amidst the escalating public confrontation between the two former members of the duo.

The story published this Wednesday on Instagram did not open any boxes. Sandro praised both rappers, criticized Aldo's environment, and ended up inviting everyone to the Malecón.

"I like to open Pandora's boxes and boxes that aren't Pandora," he started, then went on to say that Los Aldeanos "deserve a lot of respect" and that they are "idols" to many young Cubans. About El B, he was direct: "Bian is a person with principled values."

However, regarding Aldo, it was more ambiguous: «Aldo is a person who always found it easier to achieve his successes. Whenever they played in cultural venues here, it was always Aldo who stepped forward».

The most significant aspect of the entire story was its critique of Aldo's surroundings: "The whole group next to Aldo is a tremendous mess, pure hypocrisy. They sing for one side just as they do for the other, they provide information of all kinds, they are shameless opportunists."

And he closed with an invitation that perfectly summarizes the level of his revelations: «Everyone, let's head to the Malecón for a cubalibre and some Cristal».

Sandro's intervention takes place in the context of the controversy that erupted on Monday when El B broke 12 years of silence with a video in which he accused Aldo of having attacked him and his partner Lía throughout that time through his network, with defamation campaigns in live broadcasts.

El B announced that it has legal cases prepared: "Case for cyberbullying, case for threats, case for defamation."

The most sensitive core of the conflict is the figure of Mariela Cartaya Oltuski, Aldo's ex-wife and mother of his child, who, according to news reports, is said to be a cousin of "El Cangrejo", identified as Raúl Guillermo Rodríguez Castro, grandson of Raúl Castro and son of Déborah Castro Espín and General Luis Alberto Rodríguez López-Calleja, former head of GAESA.

El B stated that in 2014 he did not know who Mariela was or her connections to the Castro family. Aldo responded by showing photos with Mariela and denied having concealed her.

Sandro, who reposted a photo of Aldo with Mariela in his story, was perceived by many as an intervention from the Castro elite. However, his story did not contribute anything new to the debate: it neither confirmed nor denied the alleged family connections, nor revealed any secrets about the Aldea.

His only advice was that both rappers "should sit down face to face" and resolve their issues internally, "because after all the time they spent together, it's ugly for them to be making these problems public."

To nobody's surprise, Sandro Castro's Pandora's box turned out to be just like him: completely empty.
