The American retail giant Costco issued a national recall for the ZWILLING Enfinigy Pro electric kettle, after it was confirmed that the handle of the appliance may come loose or detach, potentially causing hot water to spill and posing a serious burn risk to users.

The recall affects approximately 113,440 units sold in the United States between September 2019 and November 2025, according to the notice published by the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) on May 14, under recall number 26-489.

Approximately 43,963 were sold in Canada and about 48 in Mexico.

The manufacturing company, ZWILLING J.A. Henckels AG, reported 163 documented cases of handles that became loose or detached from the kettle body, five incidents related to that failure, and at least one confirmed second-degree burn injury.

The official notice from ZWILLING, published on April 20, warns that the handle "may in isolated cases become loose or detach," which "can cause hot water to spill uncontrollably" and that "users or nearby individuals are at risk of scalding."

Costco posted the notice on its official product recall page and was straightforward with its customers: "Stop using it," urging them to return the item immediately for a full refund.

The affected models are the Zwilling Enfinigy Electric Kettle Pro Set in silver and black, with Costco item numbers #1773073 (silver) and #1773101 (black), as well as Item #1591990 for all locations in the U.S.

The teapots, made in China and crafted from porcelain, were sold at a price ranging from $119.99 to $200, not only at Costco but also on Amazon, HomeGoods, Bloomingdale's, Crate & Barrel, Williams-Sonoma, and the ZWILLING website.

"If you have this item, stop using it immediately and return it to your nearest Costco for a full refund," states the chain.

Consumers can request a refund in three ways: by returning the item to their nearest Costco, registering on the website set up by ZWILLING at zwillingkettlerecall.expertinquiry.com, or by contacting the company via email at enfinigy-kettle-recall@zwilling.com or by phone at 866-963-4583.

The company explicitly requested that the product not be discarded until the claim is fully approved, and asked consumers to share this information with anyone who uses or may use one of these teapots.

This recall is part of a series of recalls issued by Costco during 2026, which includes the Agio Menlo Woven patio swings (18,500 units) due to the risk of falls, the BISSELL Steam Shot Omnireach steam cleaner, and the Generac GP9200 generator, among others.

In July 2025, Costco had already removed from the market more than a dozen products due to various safety risks, including a pressure cooker posing burn risks and a battery with a fire hazard.

ZWILLING stated in its official announcement: "As a quality brand, we are committed to ensuring that our products are safe and that our customers are satisfied. Therefore, we have decided to recall the electric kettles. Of course, you will receive your money back."
