The Republican congresswoman María Elvira Salazar announced this Friday that she had a "powerful conversation" with Lara Trump —daughter-in-law of President Donald Trump and host of "My View" on Fox News— alongside Cuban-American congressmen Mario Díaz-Balart and Carlos Giménez, focused on "this historic moment for Cuba."

The television appearance is scheduled for this Saturday at 9 PM on Fox News, in the segment hosted by Lara Trump since February 22, 2026, featuring an opinion and interview format.

"A powerful conversation with Lara Trump alongside Mario Díaz-Balart and Carlos Giménez about this historic moment for Cuba, the exile community we are proud to represent, and why the fight for freedom on the island remains something deeply personal for so many families in our community," Salazar wrote on X.

The meeting occurs at a time of maximum pressure from the Trump administration on the Cuban regime, with over 240 sanctions imposed to date, including those directed against GAESA, the military conglomerate that controls the island's economy, announced by Secretary of State Marco Rubio on May 7.

The three congress members, representing districts in South Florida with a high concentration of Cuban Americans, have acted as a coordinated legislative bloc during 2026.

In February, they sent a joint letter to the Department of the Treasury and the Department of Commerce requesting the revocation of commercial licenses with Cuba, and in May they pushed to close loopholes in the embargo that allowed exports exceeding 100 million dollars to the island.

The immediate context is particularly significant. Last Wednesday, just two days before the announcement, Salazar published that "today marks the beginning of the end of the Castro family", and on Thursday she addressed the figure of Raúl Castro in another post on the same social network.

This is not the first time Salazar has appeared on Lara Trump's program.

On January 4, 2026, the congresswoman participated in "My View" to discuss the capture of Nicolás Maduro, in an interview where Trump was quoted saying that "Cuba is a nation that is failing very seriously and we want to help its people."

The presence of three Cuban-American congress members in the program of the president's daughter-in-law reinforces the symbolic link between the Trump family and the cause of the Cuban exile, a key voter demographic in South Florida.

In April, before the Subcommittee on Western Hemisphere Affairs, Salazar was firm in describing the regime's situation: "The communist regime in Cuba is on life support. Trump just needs to disconnect it."
