The price of the U.S. dollar rose again this Sunday in the informal Cuban market, reaching 560 CUP, two pesos more than the previous day, when it was quoted at 558 CUP.
The U.S. dollar thus breaks records for the third consecutive day, consolidating pressure on the Cuban peso amid the economic crisis, inflation, and the increasing demand for hard currency for emigration, purchases, and private businesses.
The euro remained unchanged and continues to be quoted at 635 CUP, the same value reported on Saturday.
The European currency is the most expensive in Cuba's informal market and maintains a high demand among travelers and entrepreneurs who need to import products from abroad.
Exchange Rate Evolution
For its part, the Free Convertible Currency (MLC) saw a notable drop, falling from 412 CUP yesterday to 400 CUP this Sunday, losing 12 pesos in just 24 hours.
The decrease reflects a lower demand for the digital currency, increasingly overshadowed by the use of cash dollars within the informal Cuban economy.
