Amanda Díaz, the Cuban-American influencer with over a million followers on Instagram, experienced one of the most significant moments of her career this weekend by attending the Closing Ceremony of the Cannes Film Festival as a guest of L'Oréal Paris, where she walked the red carpet alongside stars like Eva Longoria.
It was her first time at the most prestigious film festival in the world. "The first Cannes of my life… and it's none other than the Closing Ceremony! I must be dreaming," Amanda wrote on her Instagram account on Sunday, still unable to process the experience.
For the occasion, she wore an archival dress from Dolce & Gabbana in champagne hue, featuring a mermaid cut and off-the-shoulder design, complemented with jewelry from the brand Messika and styled by specialists Allan Face and Dimitri Shair.
In her post, Amanda especially thanked the French brand for making her dream come true: "Thank you to my family at L'Oréal Paris for turning this dream into reality. Thank you for standing up for women and encouraging us to take our space and be authentically ourselves."
Among the figures who joined Amanda at the L'Oréal Paris delegation in Cannes were Eva Longoria —who is celebrating her 20th anniversary as the brand's ambassador this year—, Gillian Anderson, Jane Fonda, Andie MacDowell, and Aishwarya Rai, among others.
The closing of the 79th edition of the Cannes Film Festival also provided a special moment for Amanda: the performance by the Spanish duo Los Javis —Javier Ambrossi and Javier Calvo—, who won the award for Best Direction for La bola negra. "Especially the Javis, your words last night impacted me deeply," she wrote in Spanish in her post. The Palme d'Or of this edition went to Fjord, directed by Romanian filmmaker Cristian Mungiu.
Amanda Díaz was born in Havana and emigrated with her family at the age of five. She grew up in Miami, a city she describes as "a safe haven for Cubans and Cuban culture." From there, she built a career as a beauty content creator that led her to work with brands like Dior, Ralph Lauren, YSL, and Garnier.
In December 2024, Forbes included her in its "30 Under 30" list in the beauty and social media category, recognizing her impact, creativity, and potential as one of the most influential Latina creators of her generation.
Beyond brands and red carpets, Amanda has also devoted part of her visibility to activism: she has traveled to the border between the United States and Mexico to support asylum seekers, and she was welcomed at the White House alongside the group Poderistas to discuss the Latino vote.
"This is a dream and I still can't believe it, and it's all thanks to you," Amanda concluded in her post, which garnered nearly 30,000 reactions in under 24 hours.
