The Cuban reggaeton artist known professionally as El Dizzy passed away in Miami, as announced last Monday by the media outlet Calientalo Media on Instagram, which extended its condolences to the artist's family, friends, and fans.
"We deeply mourn the passing of the artist El Dizzy. Our heartfelt condolences to his family and friends," published the media outlet specializing in Latin urban music and the Cuban community.
Sources indicate that El Dizzy, whose real name was Abraham Fernández, was 25 years old and lived in Miami Beach. He lost his life last Saturday in a traffic accident just three blocks from his home.
According to the fundraising campaign launched on GoFundMe by Marta Lorenzo, Abraham left his home at seven in the morning to go to work on his day off when the tragedy occurred.
“Abraham was 25 years old, full of life, loved music, wrote songs and sang, and had the kindest heart,” Lorenzo described on the fundraising page, where he also highlighted that he was “happy, outgoing, affectionate, and incredibly loving.”
According to sources close to the situation, the alleged person responsible for the accident called 911, stayed at the scene until emergency services arrived, and has cooperated fully with the authorities at all times.
The family was treated at the Jackson Trauma Center in Miami, where Abraham's father, Jorge Fernández, faced loss while dealing with his own health issues.
The young man's mother was in Spain and could not travel due to issues with her legal documents, so she experienced the tragedy from afar.
"I never forgot the special dates, and she always called me on Mother's Day and my birthday. Her mother is in Spain and cannot travel due to issues with her documents, so she suffers deeply from afar," Lorenzo wrote.
The GoFundMe campaign, created last Saturday to cover funeral expenses and urgent needs of the family, raised $15,918 of a goal of $20,000 with the participation of 294 donors.
