Cuban on the island fulfills dream thanks to social media: "I don't know if you understand what this means to me."

Cuban creator ElyVlogs received a vanity with a mirror from a follower who became a friend, fulfilling a dream that had been kept silently due to the shortages in Cuba.

The Cuban content creator ElyVlogs posted an emotional video on TikTok yesterday, where she shows how a follower who became a friend gifted her a vanity mirror, fulfilling one of her most cherished dreams.

In the video published from Cuba, the creator shares with emotion that she always wanted to have that personal space, but that economic circumstances never allowed her to do so.

"I don’t know if you understand what this means to me, because when someone comes from not being able to indulge in almost any pleasure, they learn to keep small dreams silent," ElyVlogs said in front of the camera.

The gift arrived unexpectedly through a person who initially started following its content and eventually became a close friend.

"Life had other plans because I didn't buy it, someone gave it to me who came into my life thanks to you all, and I still can't believe that a person who started as a follower has now become such a wonderful friend," she expressed.

The creator, who is also a mother, described the reality of creating content from the island without resources: "I had to find solutions, work, be a mom, and keep creating content with whatever I had, even though no one could imagine how much I wanted to have a space like this."

For ElyVlogs, the vanity goes far beyond a mere everyday object: "Although it may seem like just a vanity, it means so much more to me, because behind this mirror is a girl who dreamed of having her lovely little corner and a woman who continues to fight to achieve each goal bit by bit."

The video is also a thank you to his community, to whom he credits for bringing people and opportunities into his life: "Social media has not only given me opportunities, but also blessed me with beautiful people."

The case of ElyVlogs is part of a growing trend in Cuba where TikTok has evolved from a mere entertainment platform into a tool for solidarity and achieving goals. Other Cuban creators bought houses thanks to TikTok in October 2025, and in May of this year, a young woman raised 20,000 Cuban pesos among her followers to gift her grandfather a work tool.

Direct monetization from Cuba is limited by the restrictions of the platforms and the economic environment of the island, but the bonds of solidarity between creators and followers have generated stories of real impact in the everyday lives of those creating content from there.

What sets the case of ElyVlogs apart is that the gift did not come from a commercial transaction, but from a genuine human connection forged through digital content, something the creator herself acknowledges as the greatest value of her community.

"Thank you for joining me on this journey and for celebrating the little things with me, because in the end, those are the ones that touch the heart the most," ElyVlogs concluded in his message to his followers.
