Maluma opened his heart this week in an interview recorded in Medellín and published by Billboard Latin on TikTok, where he confessed to having suffered panic attacks that changed his life and dedicated very emotional words to his partner, Susana Gómez.

The Colombian singer, whose real name is Juan Luis Londoño Arias, explained that the birth of his first daughter, Paris, was the catalyst for a deep personal crisis that he never expected to experience.

"When Paris was born, she invited me to find myself again... the responsibility of being a father, I am a very responsible man, I have always been disciplined, and when my daughter arrived it was like: how am I going to become that ‘ideal’ person for my daughter?" said the artist.

It was during that process of pause and personal rediscovery that, in late 2024, he began to experience something entirely new to him.

"I experienced astronomical anxiety that I never thought I would in my life. Honestly, panic attacks," Maluma confessed in the Billboard Latin video.

The artist had spent nearly 14 years on non-stop tours before deciding to take a break. In a recent appearance on The Jennifer Hudson Show, where he introduced his seventh studio album, Loco X Volver, he explained that this break was the breeding ground for his crisis: "I decided to stop, focus on myself, and try to reconnect. That's when Paris was born. And by the end of 2024, I started experiencing panic attacks that I had never had before, and that really changed my life."

At the first signs, Maluma decided to seek professional therapy, a step he embraces naturally and considers crucial for his recovery.

Today, the singer claims to have overcome that phase: "I feel good now. I no longer have panic attacks, I feel amazing. I'm very excited about this project."

In the Billboard Latin interview, Maluma also reserved his warmest words for his partner, Susana Gómez, whom he affectionately calls "Susy."

«Susy es la mejor. Si algo lindo, chimba bonito de mi vida, es mi mujer», afirmó, describiéndola además como «una mujer sólida, ley» y «su roca».

The couple, who maintain a discreet relationship, announced on May 11 that they are expecting their second child, a boy whom the singer already affectionately calls "his little pup." Susana was five months pregnant when the news of the pregnancy became public, which they kept a secret due to maturity and the need to experience it in privacy.

Paris, the first daughter of the couple, was born on March 9, 2024, in Medellín, and her arrival in the world was, according to Maluma himself, the turning point that made him reconsider his life and career.

All of that personal process is reflected in Loco X Volver, an album of 14 songs released on May 15 that blends vallenato, salsa, merengue, dancehall, and hip hop as a tribute to his Colombian roots, featuring a childhood photo on the cover and a private launch at the family home in Medellín.

"This project is the deepest part of my soul and my heart. And, without a doubt, I have never experienced anything like this," Maluma stated about the album.
