Three undocumented Cubans with criminal records for serious offenses committed in Florida were arrested over the weekend by the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), which continues to ramp up its crackdown on illegal immigration under the strict immigration policy of the Trump administration.

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) announced this Monday the arrest of undocumented foreign nationals identified as some of the most dangerous criminals in the U.S., many of whom are included on the "Worst of the Worst" list, a federal campaign aimed at capturing and deporting migrants with criminal histories who pose a threat to public and national security.

One of the Cuban citizens added to that list is Reiniel Parajón Gómez, arrested in Miami and whose criminal record includes charges of cruelty to a minor and child sexual abuse through molestation.

The DHS also announced on Monday the arrest of Miguel Sosa, who has been convicted of cocaine trafficking in Miami, and Alexei Martí Martínez, who has a conviction for grand theft in Fort Myers.

The federal agency also reported the arrests of nationals from El Salvador, Mexico, Honduras, Nicaragua, and other countries for crimes including child sexual abuse, aggravated sexual assault, assault with a deadly weapon, vehicular homicide under the influence of alcohol or drugs, drug trafficking, and burglary, among others.

Regarding the arrests, the acting deputy secretary of the DHS, Lauren Bis, stated that "every day, the brave men and women of ICE make our communities safer," and warned that authorities would not allow "troublemakers to prevent us from deporting the worst criminals from American neighborhoods," referencing the protests and intense clashes reported in recent days between demonstrators and federal agents outside the Delaney Hall detention center in Newark, New Jersey.

The DHS announced this Monday the update of the website "The Worst of the Worst" (WOW.DHS.gov) with 5,000 new profiles of undocumented immigrants with serious criminal records detained in all 50 states, bringing the total to over 35,000 individuals listed since the platform's launch on December 8, 2025.

The arrests from last weekend are part of the "Making America Safe Again" campaign by the Trump administration, which has intensified ICE operations since January 2025.

According to an analysis by the Cato Institute cited in April 2026, the detentions of Cubans by ICE increased by 463% between late 2024 and early 2026, while approvals for permanent residency for Cubans fell by 99.8% during the same period.

Florida accounts for the largest volume of these operations, with over 41,310 ICE arrests recorded since January 2025.

This Monday, it was also reported about the arrest of a Cuban with a criminal record during a Border Patrol operation in Homestead, Florida, and ICE released the extensive criminal history of another Cuban detained in Delaney Hall, New Jersey.
