The Cuban activist warned that the island is already at war, referring to the ongoing protests and the repression suffered by the people.

The Cuban activist Anamely Ramos published a video on Facebook this Friday in which she stated that Cuba is already at war, not in a metaphorical sense but in a literal one.

"What is happening inside Cuba is a state of absolute terror," Ramos stated in the video, an edited excerpt from a live broadcast lasting just over two minutes.

"The protests have not stopped, especially in Havana. Yesterday, once again, a number of municipalities in Havana, a number of neighborhoods in Havana, were literally on the front lines," he noted.

Ramos emphasized that her warning goes beyond describing the precarious situation faced by Cubans. In her opinion, they are already fighting in the streets and cannot do more because they lack weapons and resources to confront the regime.

“At this point, I am not talking about precariousness; I am talking about the fact that we are at war, we are at war,” he said, rejecting the idea that the conflict would begin with an external intervention.

"The war is not going to start when the Americans arrive, if they come. We already have the war in Cuba."

The activist described the Cuban people as defenseless and noble, pointing out that the regime takes advantage of this condition to repress them with impunity.

"People are already fighting in the streets with what they have. It's an absolute abuse because it's an unarmed people, a noble people, who find it very difficult to shift from a peaceful attitude to something else."

Ramos also pointed out the inaction of the community abroad: "They are taking advantage of the indifference we have."

The Cuban opposition member made an urgent call to escalate the organized response: "We need to step it up because if we don't move, if we don't escalate in mobilization and organization... they will run us over!"

The case of the political prisoner Yunaiky Linares

The video by Ramos contains statements made during a live broadcast regarding the case of Yunaiky de la Caridad Linares Rodríguez, who was detained on July 21, 2021, following the July 11 protests and sentenced to eight years in prison for sedition.

According to Prisoners Defenders, Linares suffers from depression, malnutrition, asthma, thyroid issues, kidney problems, and neuralgia.

"It was a direct address to talk about the case of Yunaiky Linares, but above all to clarify the situation currently being experienced in Cuba, the less exciting part of the protests," said Ramos in his post.

The activist's statements come amid a sustained escalation of protests and repression in Cuba.

The Cuban Conflict Observatory recorded 1,133 protests in April, a 29.5% increase compared to the same month in 2025, with 176 repressive actions.

In May, the police violently suppressed demonstrators in the Playa municipality, with the presence of special forces, plainclothes officers, and military patrols.

On Wednesday, residents of San Lázaro pushed back the police after more than 20 hours without electricity.

Ramos, exiled in the United States, has been one of the most active voices in denouncing that the pardons announced by the regime systematically exclude political prisoners, prosecuted under the category of "crimes against authority."

In January, he led a call demanding an end to the "state terror" and the release of over 1,000 political prisoners.

"Much more could be said, but I believe that now the important thing is to act and, above all, to raise awareness that we are already at war and that, therefore, action must be considered from that perspective," Ramos wrote when publishing the video.
