The average price of regular gasoline in Florida dropped to $3.9150 per gallon this Tuesday, according to updated data from the American Automobile Association (AAA), placing the state nearly 25 cents below the national average of $4.1610.
In Miami, the average price of a gallon of regular gasoline today is $3.9720, also below the national average and showing a significant decrease compared to last month, when the price was around $4.4110.
The trend of decreasing prices has been consolidating for several weeks now in the state. Just a few days ago, the average in Miami was $4.1120 per gallon, while a month ago it exceeded $4.41. Drivers in the city are currently paying about 43 cents less per gallon than they were in May.
For those who need higher octane gasoline, the prices in Miami are as follows: mid-grade gasoline averages $4.4080 per gallon, premium is at $4.6580, and diesel reaches $5.0100, making it the most expensive fuel of all.
Across the state, prices follow a clear geographic pattern: the counties in the northern and northwestern parts of Florida, known as the Panhandle, report the highest values, averaging between $4.0040 and $4.3710 per gallon. The southern counties show the lowest prices, ranging from $3.4910 to $3.8670.
The fall is part of a broader national movement
AAA reported last Thursday that the national average for regular gasoline dropped nearly 20 cents in a single week, marking the second consecutive week of decline.
Among the factors explaining the decline are the crude oil price staying below $100 per barrel—the WTI closed that week at $96.02—and a drop in gasoline demand, which decreased from 9.25 million barrels per day to 8.59 million, according to data from the U.S. Energy Information Administration.
At the same time, domestic gasoline supply increased from 211.6 million to 215 million barrels, which helped relieve pressure on prices.
Despite the recent improvement, current prices remain significantly higher than they were a year ago. In June 2025, a gallon of regular gasoline in Florida cost $3.0690 and in Miami $3.0130, nearly 90 cents less than today.
2026: a difficult year for drivers in Florida
The state average reached $4.198 on April 7, the highest level since 2022, driven by geopolitical tensions and the seasonal switch to summer gasoline.
That same month, diesel reached its all-time high in Florida at $5.82 per gallon on April 2. In May, prices surged again to $4.34 per gallon in just one week before dropping back down.
Analysts caution that U.S. crude oil inventories remain approximately 3% below the average of the last five years, which could limit how much further prices can drop in the coming weeks.
