The Cuban authorities captured two men in the municipality of Cárdenas, Matanzas province, who are accused of murdering a young man inside a local clinic in Coliseo, Jovellanos.
The detainees, identified as Pavel Morales Chill and Roberto Onel Batista Chill, had been fugitives since the night of June 12, when the crime occurred, and were captured approximately 80 kilometers from the scene of the incident.
According to the Facebook page "With Everyone, Victory", managed by the Ministry of the Interior (Minint), the tragic incident occurred at a recreational center in the area, where the victim was involved in a fight with the two attackers, who drew knives and inflicted several wounds: one on the right hand and two on the same side arm.
The victim was taken to the "Pedro Pablo Rivera Cue" polyclinic for medical attention, but the assailants did not stop there.
A doctor from the health center reported that the injured person was brought to her consultation with the described injuries, which were not serious. However, before he could be stabilized, the two men burst into the clinic and attacked him again.
The young man did not survive this second attack and lost his life inside the medical center.
After the crime, both individuals fled the scene and remained at large until the authorities located and arrested them in Cárdenas, where they were placed at the disposal of justice.
The profile Nio reporting a crime, which made the case public just a few hours after it happened, identified the victim by the name Adriel, who was known as «Matute».
According to testimonies and citizen reports received by this platform, the dispute reportedly began over the disappearance of a cell phone during a party at a bar in the town, which sparked the argument between Adriel and the two individuals.
Relatives and friends of Adriel "Matute" demand justice and insist that "the case be investigated to the fullest extent," the profile stated.
This crime within a healthcare facility adds to several violent incidents reported in Cuban medical establishments.
