Groups A, B, and C of the are competing this Wednesday in their third and final round of the group stage, with several teams fighting for a spot in the Round of 16 in matches that will be decided by the slimmest of margins.

Under the new format of 48 selections spread across 12 groups, the top two from each group automatically advance, along with the eight best third-placed teams from the overall standings. This rule keeps the hopes of several teams alive until the final whistle.

Group A: Mexico is already in, the rest are fighting

Mexico arrives at this date with the ticket in hand. El Tri has accumulated six points and zero goals conceded after defeating South Africa (2-0) and South Korea (1-0, with a goal from Julián Quiñones at the Akron Stadium), becoming the first qualifier of the tournament. The team led by Javier Aguirre will face the Czech Republic at the Azteca Stadium without any pressure.

South Korea, currently in second place with three points, holds its fate in its own hands: a draw against South Africa at BBVA Stadium (21:00 Cuba time) will guarantee their advancement.

South Africa, on the other hand, must win and hope that the Czech Republic does not defeat the Tri. The Czechs, with just one point, also need a victory to avoid saying goodbye to the tournament.

Group B: Canada and Switzerland compete for the top spot

The most exciting matchup in the area features Canada and Switzerland, both tied with four points, facing each other directly at BC Place in Vancouver at 3:00 PM Cuba time. The Canadians are leading due to a goal difference of +6, resulting from the 6-0 victory over Qatar on June 18. Switzerland, on the other hand, reached this stage after defeating Bosnia 4-1.

Both have practically secured their qualification, but the first place could be decisive in the knockout rounds.

At Lumen Field in Seattle, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Qatar are simultaneously competing in a final without safety nets. Both have one point, and the winner will reach four points, with a real chance of advancing as either the second place or one of the best third-place teams. The loser will be on the brink of elimination.

Group C: Brazil and Morocco with no room for error

Brazil and Morocco share the lead with four points each, but neither has secured their advance. The two matches in the area will start at 6:00 PM Cuba time.

The Canarinha, led by Carlo Ancelotti, faces Scotland at the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami. The Brazilians only need a draw to advance, while the Scots, currently in third place with three points, need to win to qualify directly. Ancelotti, the first foreign coach to manage Brazil, comes into this match following a 3-0 victory over Haiti, where Matheus Cunha scored twice.

Morocco, semifinalist in Qatar 2022, hosts Haiti at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, knowing that a draw is enough for them to advance. The Atlas Lions can also seize the top spot from Brazil if they win and the Canarinha stumbles.

Haiti ends the day as the team with the bleakest outlook: without any points in two matches, they need to win and hope for favorable results to have a chance of qualifying as one of the best third-placed teams.

With the Round of 32 just around the corner, the third matchday of the group stage is, as always, the time for calculators, combinations, and tie-breakers: a single goal can completely change the fate of a group.
