Aly Sánchez took to her Instagram account to share one of the most challenging moments she has experienced as a mother: her 14-year-old daughter Sophia Balmaseda underwent spinal surgery at the Nicklaus Children's Hospital in Miami, Florida.
The Cuban presenter shared an emotional message accompanied by images from inside the hospital, where she is seen exhausted in the waiting room while her daughter was being attended to by the medical team.
"These days have taught me many things, but one of the greatest has been witnessing the courage of my daughter," Aly wrote, visibly moved.
In her account, the actress and comedian described in detail how she experienced the hours leading up to the procedure: "I saw her be afraid, ask questions, listen to everything that was being explained to her, and still go ahead. I watched her enter that operation with a strength I don't know where she found it, because if I'm honest, I think we were all devastated."
The images in the carousel show Sophia on a stretcher making video calls with family members who could not be present, and a personalized teddy bear with the name "Sophi" embroidered in pink letters resting on her hospital bed, surrounded by medical tubes.
Aly also took the opportunity to thank the healthcare staff and those who supported them from a distance: "In moments like these, one understands that love can also come in the form of a message, a visit, a hot soup, or someone who simply says, 'I'm here.' And that is not forgotten."
What stood out most to the presenter was not the scare itself, but her daughter's attitude in response: "Today, I feel a pride that's hard to explain. Not because of what happened, but because of how she faced it."
The moment arrives just three weeks after Sophia graduated with multiple honors in science, music, volleyball, and the Conservatory of Music, a ceremony that also moved her supporters.
The young woman, who in September 2024 won first place in the Florida Future Chef competition, has proven time and again that she possesses both talent and strength of character.
The post garnered over 56,600 likes and nearly 3,200 comments, including one from the show El Gordo y la Flaca, which wished her a "swift recovery." We at CiberCuba also join in those words: swift recovery!
Aly closed her message with a phrase that sums up everything she experienced with her family and her husband Roberto Balmaseda during those days of anguish: "My girl reminded me that being brave is not about having no fear. It's about moving forward even when you do."
