The official account of the White House on X quickly took advantage of one of the most publicized events of the year: the wedding of Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce, held this Friday at Madison Square Garden in New York.
Only the exterior screens of the venue illuminated the night with the message “JUST&T MARRIED”, the Trump administration published a manipulated image of the same sign with a very different text: “TRUMP IS YOUR PRESIDENT”, accompanied by the caption “IT'S HAPPENED!!!”.
The post amassed over 5.7 million views and nearly 35,000 "likes" in just a few hours, becoming one of the most viral messages from the official White House account this year.
The post serves as a bitter reminder for the music star that the president of her country is not the one she wanted nor the one she advocated for.
Trump's "Eras Tour"
The reaction on July 4th was not an isolated incident.
Hours earlier, the White House had already released a poster titled "NEXT ON AMERICA'S ERAS TOUR", a direct parody of Swift's famous musical tour.
The design featured Trump at the center, flanked by historical figures such as Abraham Lincoln and George Washington, with the caption “It's been a long time coming”, a phrase taken from Swift's own song “Miss Americana & The Heartbreak Prince.”
Both publications were interpreted as a high-profile political "troll," although some analysts described them as relatively moderate compared to other content that the administration has disseminated in the past.
The style combines memes, references to popular culture, and parodies as a communication tool directed at the president's conservative base.
A long-standing dispute
The tension between Trump and Swift has deep roots.
In September 2024, the singer announced her support for Kamala Harris on Instagram, where she has over 280 million followers, with a direct message:
"I am going to vote for Kamala Harris and Tim Walz in the 2024 presidential elections. I believe she is a strong and talented leader, and I think we can achieve much more in this country if she leads us with calm rather than chaos."
The response from Trump on Truth Social was immediate: “I hate Taylor Swift.”
Since then, the president has not missed an opportunity.
In February 2025, when Swift was booed upon appearing on screen during the Super Bowl, Trump publicly celebrated the moment with a message on Truth Social:
"The only one who had a harder night than the Kansas City Chiefs was Taylor Swift. She was booed and thrown out of the stadium. MAGA is very relentless!"
Months later, in May 2025, Trump struck again with another post: “Has anyone noticed that since I said 'I HATE TAYLOR SWIFT', she is no longer 'POPULAR'?”
An unexpected turn before the wedding
However, the relationship between them has experienced surprisingly relaxed moments. When Swift and Kelce announced their engagement on August 26, 2025 -in a joint Instagram post that became the most successful in the history of the platform with over 33 million "likes"-, Trump surprised everyone by reacting warmly at a press conference:
"I wish them good luck," he said, describing Kelce as "a great player and a great guy" and Swift as "a fantastic person," although he predicted that the relationship would not last long.
The wedding this Friday was an event of extraordinary proportions.
The ceremony, which began around 5:00 p.m. ET and ran into the early morning hours, brought together between 600 and 1,000 guests at MSG, transformed with botanical garden decorations.
It was officiated by the actor and comedian Adam Sandler.
Both grooms wore Christian Dior Haute Couture designed by Jonathan Anderson, paired with shoes by Christian Louboutin and jewelry from Cartier.
The couple also announced a donation of 26 million dollars to 20 nonprofit organizations in the United States.
While the Empire State Building lit up its tower in light blue as a wedding tribute, the White House opted for a different kind of celebration: reminding the bride, on the happiest day of her life, who the president is.
