A young Cuban woman identified on TikTok as Ale (@soyy.ale_28) became a topic of conversation on social media after she published a nearly six-minute "story time" last Saturday, in which she recounts how her Spanish boss at a hotel in Cuba went from being someone she disliked to becoming her partner.

In the video posted on TikTok, Ale explains that she was studying a Bachelor's degree in Tourism, specializing in Business Administration, and was interning at the hotel where Miguel, a Spanish man in a management position, worked.

For about a year of internships, the relationship was strictly professional and not at all promising from a romantic perspective. "Look, here comes this guy... he was always scolding me and I couldn't stand him," Ale recalls with laughter, describing Miguel as someone very demanding who arrived at work elegantly dressed, in a tie, and who expected everything to be perfect.

The turning point came unexpectedly: the university assigned her a project related to Miguel's department, and Ale approached him for help. Instead of assisting her at work, he invited her to go out on a day off. "I'm off on Tuesday; let's go out, have some lunch, and I'll bring my laptop so we can talk and I can help you," he said.

But she agreed, although she admits she went to the meeting feeling nervous. "I was very shy, you know, he was my boss," she confesses. However, that afternoon turned out to be the beginning of something more: "It was a very lovely afternoon... we didn't eat much, but we had a wonderful time."

From that point on, their friendship grew through messages on WhatsApp, strolls around La Habana, and frequent outings during Miguel's days off. On February 14th, after several months of getting to know each other, Ale decided to formalize the relationship. "I waited until I was absolutely sure about the step I was taking, and I said yes," she shares.

The couple has been together for a year and six months. During that time, Ale traveled to Spain, returned to Cuba, and finally, they both moved to Mexico due to a job offer Miguel received. "In Cuba, well, it's not in a good moment right now, and we came here in search of a new adventure," Ale explains, referring to the crisis affecting the island. They plan to settle in Spain soon.

In the video, Ale also addresses one of the topics that generates the most debate among her followers: the age difference between them. "When you meet someone so good who supports you, who loves you, and with whom you feel so good, you forget what people say," she responds to her critics. She adds pragmatically, "Opinions are free; they don’t charge for giving an opinion, and they don't pay you anything."

The story of Ale is framed within a recurring phenomenon on TikTok featuring Cuban women defending their relationships with foreign partners or those with significant age gaps in response to criticisms regarding their motivations. In the Cuban online community, there exists the ironic term "love at first visa" to describe relationships where it is suspected that the woman is seeking immigration benefits, a debate that these videos regularly reignite.

The hotel context described by Ale is quite common in Cuba, where Spanish chains like Meliá and Iberostar operate dozens of establishments and have historically hired Spanish professionals for management positions on the island.

At the end of the video, Ale and Miguel announce that they plan to have a baby in the future: "Since so many have asked us, yes, we are going to have a baby later on."
