What happened to this Cuban woman at a Dollar Tree in the U.S.: "That goes back."

A Cuban expatriate in Miami experienced a moment this week at a Dollar Tree that left her speechless: when she went to pay for the toys she had promised her daughter and discovered that she had forgotten her wallet in the cart, a stranger who was behind her in line offered to cover the entire bill without hesitation.

Yaliris, known on TikTok as “Mulatacha” (@vidaconyaliris), shared the episode in a video that quickly resonated with her audience. She had gone to the store to buy her daughter a Squishy and some slime, items that the little one had been asking for days.

As they reached the checkout and Yaliris realized she didn't have her purse, she explained to her daughter that they would have to go back to the car to look for it. It was then that the woman waiting behind her, who also had a little girl, immediately intervened.

"No, everything she orders, put it on my tab, I'll take care of it," the stranger said to the cashier.

Yaliris tried to decline the gesture several times, but the woman wouldn't give in: "No, no, no, I'm doing it willingly, really. Take what you want to take; if you want something else, I'll put it on your tab."

The episode took on a special meaning for Yaliris because it immediately connected her to something she had done months earlier. On May 1, 2026, the content creator discreetly paid for the purchases of an elderly woman, approximately 80 years old, at a Walmart in Miami who did not have enough money to cover three items and was returning one of them. That video moved thousands of people on TikTok.

On that occasion, Yaliris whispered to the cashier that she would cover the cost, and to the elderly lady, she said, "Don't worry, I'll pay for you." The old woman broke down in tears immediately.

Now, as she finds herself in the role of the one receiving help, Yaliris reflected aloud on her experiences: "Always, always, always, always, when you do good, it comes back to you and multiplies. One day it was my turn to be the one paying, and today it is my turn to be the one receiving."

It’s not the first time that Yaliris has gone viral in stores in Miami. In June 2026, she also drew attention with a video in which she recounted an uncomfortable experience at a Walmart, where a stranger followed her through several aisles and rudely asked for her phone number.

Its content, which blends the everyday life of Cuban emigrants in the United States with moments of spontaneous solidarity, has resonated deeply among those who are intimately aware of the hardships experienced on the island and appreciate these gestures with a particular sensitivity.

Yaliris closed the video with a direct message to the woman who helped her: “If the lady who did that for me is watching this video, I thank you so much. Thank you, and I hope there are more people like you and me in the world. Kisses and blessings.”
