Reports of a deadly shooting in front of a bar in Colón, Matanzas

A man lost his life this Thursday after being shot in front of the Mai Mai bar, in the municipality of Colón, Matanzas province, according to preliminary information shared on social media

According to testimonies posted by content creator Christian Arboláez, a white sedan arrived at the scene and, from the vehicle, an individual opened fire on the victim before fleeing the scene.

"The victim is believed to have died as a result of the gunshots," Arboláez emphasized in an initial post on Facebook.

The deceased was identified shortly thereafter by family and friends as Michael, who was popularly known by the nickname "Broken Nose," reported the content creator in a second post.

Jorge Álvarez, an acquaintance of the victim, stated on social media that Michael died from a gunshot to the head, and that the perpetrators fled in the same vehicle from which the shots were fired.

"The individuals involved fled in the vehicle from which the shots were fired. May the full weight of the law fall upon these murderers," said Álvarez.

According to people who knew him, Michael lived behind building 14 in Colón and was described by those who interacted with him as "a great man."

In the comments section, several people referred to the horrendous crime that shocked the community of Colón this Thursday and stated that the attacker is already in custody.

Dayi Mendez stated, "The boy is already behind bars." This information was also shared by Marleydi Espinosa López, who asserted that the attacker "turned himself in."

For his part, Noslen Ramirez confirmed the unfortunate bloodshed: "It's true, I was passing by when it happened."

Iris Ileana López Hernández provided more details about the location: "It's not a lie, it was two houses from my home on Martí Street, at the corner of the Martí and América Area bodega in Colón."

"The man who killed is a good family man and a kind and friendly person; everything happened due to a disrespectful act from the deceased," stated Yoslandy Morejón, who defended the alleged aggressor and indicated that the motive for the crime was a supposed disrespectful act by the victim, but did not provide further details.
