There are things that only happen when a Cuban is in charge of the microphone. A reel shared on Instagram by the user @a.gaby_sky is taking social media by storm with something that seemed impossible: a Cuban crew member managed to get all the passengers on a plane to listen to the safety instructions from start to finish, laughing the whole time.
The author of the video summarizes it with a single sentence: "The pilot was Cuban and managed to get the entire plane from being distracted to laughing out loud."
The clip shows the young woman recording herself on the plane while covering her mouth with her hand, unable to contain her laughter. The video title appears on screen: "WHEN THE PILOT IS CUBAN" as the crew member's comments can be heard.
And thus, amidst his quips and that unmistakable accent, the man turned the most overlooked protocol of aviation into a comedy spectacle.
The comments quickly began to overflow. The most popular one, with 450 "likes", states: "Imagine not being Cuban, getting on the plane, and not understanding anything the pilot says." The second most applauded comment, with 398 likes, declares: "And it was the first time everyone paid attention during the safety announcements." Another user confessed: "I've traveled more than 20 times and I'm learning a few instructions... for the first time."
Someone also wrote: "He relaxed everyone's nerves," which is perhaps the best summary of what this crew member achieved without intending to: making flying feel less frightening.
It is worth clarifying that a comment pointed out that, technically, the safety instructions are given by the cabin crew—flight attendants and flight attendants—and not by the pilot. However, in the realm of Cuban humor, that detail is insignificant.
"Definitely, Cuban charisma is unmatched," wrote @a.gaby_sky. And the more than 14,000 "likes" that the video has received seem to support that claim.
