The Cuban actress Yasbell Rodríguez surprised everyone by revealing in the podcast "This is what there is" that she has been taking semi-nude photographs for decades, a practice she started in her teenage years and which, as she explained, holds deep personal and familial significance.
"Since I was 15 years old, I've been taking half-naked photos. Yes, many of them are on social media," the actress stated during her conversation with Dayrán Perdomo and his partner for this space.
Far from presenting it as an act of exhibitionism, Rodríguez offered an explanation filled with emotion: his motivation is to pay tribute to the women in his family who were never able to live freely.
"They are women who have yearned for love, who have perhaps longed to undress and surrender to life in a different way, more for themselves. And I strip for that reason, but I strip in honor of the legendary legacy of all the women who came before me," she stated, referring to her great-grandmother, grandmother, and mother, the three women who faced solitude throughout their lives.
The actress, who has been living in Miami for three years, went even further in describing her daily relationship with her body: “I walk around naked literally 24/7. I sleep naked. I love being naked. I could definitely get undressed in front of the camera, anywhere,” she clarified, emphasizing that she wouldn’t do it for financial reasons or to produce adult content.
In the same episode, the actress revealed more intimate chapters of her life. She publicly spoke about her first marriage to actor Dantes Cardoso, a relationship that lasted over five years and ended when, in her words, "my cup overflowed."
"I was worried that sometimes I felt like his mother, I was concerned that he had four children and that I would be the fifth. I was worried about his maturity and his attitude towards things," she explained about the reasons for the breakup, adding her desire to be a mother, something he was not ready to take on.
She also revealed that she had a relationship with a bisexual man, whom she found with another man, an experience she described as traumatic and that impacted her subsequent romantic life.
Rodríguez also admitted to having been unfaithful in a past relationship, although he justified it by the unhappiness he felt: "I’m not the little cat María Ramos; I'm the one who steps into the mud up to the last moment and says, 'Hey, it was me,'" he pointed out with his characteristic frankness.
In her professional journey, the actress reflected on her career since arriving in Miami in May 2023, including her time at Univista TV and the dismissal she experienced in April 2024 after filming a commercial for a medical clinic that the channel's owner deemed a competitor.
She currently works as an independent actress, content creator, and brand promoter, and she is working on two projects: a book and a play. "I’m not an influencer; I’m an actress who simply prepared herself a little more when she arrived in this city," she summarized.
