A Cuban citizen and a Mexican were arrested in the municipality of Centro, Tabasco, after being caught with alleged drugs during a surveillance operation conducted by members of the State Guard and the Secretariat of Security and Citizen Protection (SSPC).
According to the local outlet Grupo VX, the arrest took place on July 23 on Noé de la Flor Casanova Street, in the 18 de Marzo neighborhood, as part of the preventive patrols conducted by state authorities.
The detainees were identified as Donel "N", 43 years old and originally from Cuba, and Gaspar Torres Hernández, 40 years old.
During the inspection, agents seized several doses of a substance resembling marijuana, as well as materials that appeared to be methamphetamine (crystal) and crack.
According to the report, the wrappings of the last two drugs bore a yellow logo with the inscription "Plata o plomo," a phrase historically associated with Colombian drug trafficking and used by criminal groups to identify shipments or project intimidation.
The authorities also seized a burgundy and black school backpack, as well as a red fanny pack.
The two men were placed at the disposal of the Public Prosecutor's Office, which will determine their legal situation as the investigations progress.
This case adds to a series of arrests of Cuban citizens in Tabasco for alleged health-related offenses in recent months.
In January of this year, the SSPC arrested Yosvany "N", known as "Sosa", a 43-year-old Cuban, on Constitution Avenue in Villahermosa, with doses of marijuana.
In December 2025, Daniel "N", a 52-year-old Cuban, was arrested, along with a Venezuelan, also for alleged health-related crimes in the same jurisdiction.
The pattern extends to other Mexican states: last June, seven Cubans were arrested with a drug shipment in Holbox, Quintana Roo, which included marijuana, cocaine, crack, and ecstasy.
In April, Julio Yidier «N», known as «El Tilín», was captured in Mexico City, identified as the leader of a drug distribution cell.
