The Cuban-American architect Willy Bermello, designer of the future Presidential Library of Donald Trump in Miami, revealed that construction on this ambitious project is expected to begin at the end of 2027 and conclude between 2029 and 2030, right at the end of the president's second term.
"I would say that the work should begin at the end of 2027, at the end of next year. Our goal is for this project to be completed by the end of 2029, after the president leaves the White House, and for everything to be in its glory from 2029 to 2030," stated Bermello in an interview with Tania Costa, in CiberCuba.
The architect, founder of the firm Bermello Ajamil & Partners, noted that the preliminary project is now fully completed. "The preliminary project is complete, it is finished, all the adjustments they wanted have been made," he stated.
The building, a 47-story skyscraper next to the Freedom Tower, in downtown Miami, although called the "Presidential Library," will primarily house a museum dedicated to presidential legacy. "In this museum, people will be able to see the Oval Office exactly as the president left it," explained Bermello.
Among the attractions that the building will host are an exact replica of the Oval Office, a Hall of Presidents featuring photos and dedications to all past presidents, and a reproduction of the ballroom that Trump is constructing in the White House, with precisely the same layout.
Bermello also announced that the ground floor will display Air Force One and iconic presidential artifacts. "We will obviously have Air Force One; we will have the large bomb that was dropped in Iran, the first one that was meant to destroy Iran's nuclear facilities. It will truly be an amazing museum at the base of the building," he stated.
The architect emphasized the historical preservation purpose that guides the design. “It is very possible that when a future president comes in, particularly if they are from a different party, many of the things he has done will change. So what we want in this building is to capture and be the repository of all the works of the president.” This includes his executive orders, his achievements, and also the three assassination attempts he has faced during his public life. “He has survived three attempts on his life. All of that will be captured in this building,” he added.
The land where the library will be built is a plot of 2.63 acres adjacent to the historic Freedom Tower. The state of Florida approved the land transfer on September 30, 2025, and the board of Miami Dade College approved the transfer on December 3 of the same year. The plot, valued at approximately 67 million dollars, was transferred to the Donald J. Trump Presidential Library Foundation, Inc. for the symbolic price of ten dollars.
The project is not without its obstacles. In May 2026, residents filed a federal lawsuit to stop the transfer of the land.
