At 8:00 PM, local Cuban time, the informal currency market in Cuba concludes its session this Wednesday, July 29, 2026, with no changes in its main references.

The dollar and the euro end the day at the same values they opened with, while the MLC, with scarce and only indicative data, registers a slight downward variation. You can check the complete evolution at the .

The U.S. dollar is trading at 673 Cuban pesos (CUP) at the close of this session. It remains unchanged compared to the previous day, consolidating a streak of stability in recent hours.

In the weekly comparison, the greenback has risen by 1.50 pesos compared to seven days ago, when it was exchanged at 671 CUP. The comparison over 30 days shows an increase of 62 pesos—from 611 CUP at the end of June to the current 673 CUP—although this figure should be regarded with caution, as it may partly reflect adjustments in the methodology of the index.

Exchange Rate Evolution

In the past month, the dollar has fluctuated between a low of 611 and a high of 675 CUP in the informal market. It continues to dictate the trends of the informal market amid a context of structural currency shortages.

The euro is quoted at 785 Cuban pesos (CUP) at the close of this session. It remains unchanged compared to the previous session, repeating the opening value.

On a weekly basis, the European currency appreciates by 7.50 pesos compared to the 778 CUP recorded seven days ago. The 30-day trend indicates an increase of 83.50 pesos from the 702 CUP of a month ago, although, as with the dollar, this figure may incorporate methodological adjustments.

In the last month, the euro has reached a low of 700 and a high of 790 CUP. It exceeds the dollar by 112 pesos, consolidating its dominant position in the Cuban parallel market.

The MLC is closing around 472 Cuban pesos (CUP), a reference value since the data available during this time frame is limited.

This represents a drop of 1 peso compared to the previous day. In the last week, it has decreased by 7 pesos from the 479 CUP of a week ago, and in the last month, it has accumulated a decline of 16 pesos from the 488 CUP.

Without a physical existence, its use is limited to the state-run businesses that accept it, which restricts its circulation compared to cash currencies.

  • Exchange rate of the dollar USD to CUP: 673 CUP.
  • Exchange rate of the euro EUR to CUP: 785 CUP.
  • Exchange rate from MLC to CUP: 472 CUP (indicative value, limited data).

The official exchange rate of the Central Bank of Cuba (Segment III) is 605 CUP per dollar and 689 CUP per euro, which remains far below the values that prevail in everyday practice in the informal foreign exchange market.

Although Segment III was introduced as a more flexible exchange mechanism, its official rate remains far from that of the informal market and does not meet the actual demand for foreign currency from the population.

The gap between the official rate and the informal rate is 68 pesos for the dollar and 96 pesos for the euro.

In an environment of sustained inflation, low state wages, and increasing partial dollarization of the economy, every change in the informal market directly affects internal prices and the purchasing power of Cubans.
