Adis Glennis Rodríguez Mulet, 34 years old and approximately seven months pregnant, passed away in Bayamo, Granma province, after allegedly suffering a brutal assault by her husband.
According to citizen reports received by the profile of Facebook NiO Reporting a Crime, neither she nor the baby managed to survive.
The victim resided in the Ciro Redondo García neighborhood of Bayamo and was approximately 28 and a half weeks pregnant at the time of her death.
According to the known medical information about the case, Adis had an extremely severe abdominal trauma: a pelvic abdominal contusion that caused a tear in the hilum of the spleen and a hemoperitoneum of approximately two liters of blood.
The medical staff performed an exploratory laparotomy —an emergency abdominal surgery— in an effort to save his life, but the outcome was unfavorable.
The woman developed a systemic inflammatory response syndrome that triggered multiple organ failure, the immediate cause of her death.
The alleged attacker, identified as the victim's husband, has been in custody since the Sunday before the news was published, as investigations continue. His name has not been made public.
Cuban authorities have not issued official information about the progress of the criminal process nor have they released details of the investigation, a typical silence from the regime in such cases.
Adis's death caused a profound shock among those who knew her. Her niece claimed on social media: "Justice for my aunt." A friend wrote: "My friend, I still can't believe it, how sad, forever in my heart, Adita."
The case occurs against a backdrop of alarming escalation of gender-based violence in Cuba.
The Gender Observatory of Alas Tensas (OGAT) recorded 44 femicides on the island between January and July 27, 2026, compared to 48 for all of 2025.
The case of Adis would be the second documented femicide of a pregnant woman in Cuba in less than three weeks. In July, Yeni María Peñas Leyva, 23 years old, was allegedly murdered by her ex-partner in front of her home in Las Tunas, in what OGAT described as the first verified femicide of a pregnant woman since June 2024.
Bayamo had already been the scene of another femicide in April 2026, when Yunia Lisset Bizet Sánchez was murdered by her ex-partner while she was heading to the police to report him.
Cuba does not have a specific law against femicide nor does it publicly recognize that category of crime, and the government does not publish systematic statistics on gender-based violence.
The OGAT has recorded 359 verified femicides on the island since 2019, a figure that reflects a sustained crisis that the regime remains silent about.
Family members, neighbors, and close acquaintances of Adis continue to demand that the case not go unpunished and that, if the reported events are confirmed, justice is served.
