What she found in a store in Spain that reminded her of Cuba and left her speechless

A Cuban resident in Spain was pleasantly surprised when she found the classic Cuban floor mat at an Action store, sold for just 72 cents. This discovery, shared in a TikTok video by creator @susana_aguiar, known as "Susy from Cuba," sparked a wave of nostalgic comments among the Cuban community on the platform.

"I'm at Action and look at what this is. The classic Cuban floor mat. 72 cents. It's a bit smaller. It measures 48 by 60. But it's the same," says the creator in the clip, recorded inside the store.

The found blanket is slightly smaller than the traditional Cuban version, but practically identical in shape and function: a cotton cloth used for mopping and drying the floor, which is present in almost every home on the island.

Susy from Cuba confessed that when she arrived in Spain, she had blankets sent for from Cuba because she was "so used" to cleaning with them. "It may seem silly, sir, but at first, when I got here to Spain, I had those blankets sent for from Cuba because I was so accustomed to cleaning with them," she explained.

Over time, the creator got used to the Spanish mop and no longer uses blankets, but she wanted to share the discovery with those who have recently left the island: "If there's anyone around here who's been in Spain for a short time and misses Cuban blankets, just so you know, they're sold at Action."

The video accumulated over 43,500 views, 771 "likes," and 270 shares, becoming a small phenomenon among Cuban émigrés in Spain.

The video by Susy from Cuba fits into a well-established trend on TikTok: Cubans in Spain sharing with humor and nostalgia the discovery of products or items that remind them of the island, from tropical fruits to childhood items found in stores like Walmart.

Action is a Dutch chain founded in 1993, specializing in non-food items at very low prices. It arrived in Spain in 2022, and by 2025, it was expected to have at least 43 stores in the country, offering around 1,500 products for less than one euro in its catalog.

"I've already gotten used to cleaning with a mop, and I don't like those anymore, but well, it's good to know," concluded Susy from Cuba, summarizing in one sentence the adaptation process that thousands of Cubans experience abroad.
