The Cuban actor Héctor Noas bid farewell this Monday to his colleague and friend Paula Andrea Alí Rivera, or simply Paula Alí, with a heartfelt message on Facebook that moved those who read it, hours after the passing of the Cuban actress at the age of 90 was confirmed.
Noas addressed her with the affectionate and conspiratorial language that characterizes deep friendships in Cuban culture: "My love! 'My dear wife.' I feel such sadness at your departure, though I want to remember you as I always enjoyed you in life: smiling, making jokes, filling every space with your positive energy."
The actor recalled what it meant to share a project with her: “Having you as a partner in a project meant that I was going to have a wonderful time, and you always made everything flow better.”
In her Facebook post, Noas also sent a symbolic hug to Paula's friends: "You are left more alone without you," she wrote, before wishing her "a beautiful journey into eternity" with the certainty that "the Cuban people will never forget you."
He closed his message with a reflection that encapsulates the essence of the actress: «People who make others happy deserve Glory, and you knew this very well».
Just three weeks before her death, she was unanimously awarded the National Television Award 2026, the highest honor in Cuban television, which she was unable to collect in person.
The Cuban artistic community reacted with sorrow to the news. The actress Heydy González published an emotional posthumous tribute featuring a scene from Punto G where they both appeared on screen, while Luis Silva, the popular Pánfilo from Vivir del cuento, emphasized that Paula was "working until the very last moment" and described it as "a pleasure" to have shared scenes with her.
The Union of Writers and Artists of Cuba (UNEAC) bid farewell to her as "one of the most popular and beloved artists among the Cuban people" and emphasized her "especially endearing impact in comedy."
The family of Paula Alí expressed their gratitude for the affection received with words that summarize what her life was: "This town has loved her very much," said Iris Pérez on behalf of her loved ones.
The actress built a career spanning more than six decades in television, film, and theater, making her a cherished face for several generations of Cubans.
She was especially beloved for her portrayal of Dr. Rosa Matriz in the comedic program Punto G and developed an extensive film career, with appearances in movies such as Lista de espera, Nada, Miel para Oshún, and El cuerno de la abundancia.
