The Cuban broadcaster and presenter Laritza Camacho published a text full of deep emotional and political significance on her Facebook profile this Wednesday, in which she states boldly that Cubans are not happy.
Cubans are not happy. We are not, and this cannot be hidden or silenced, just as the Sun cannot be covered with a finger, wrote Camacho.
In the text, the presenter expresses regret that the diversity of views among Cubans has not led to the establishment of a genuine political dialogue.
"If they could see us and feel us, the events of November 27 would have had dialogue, July 11 would be an open street for all Cubans and not a Cuban against a Cuban in open struggle," he noted, referring to the gatherings on November 27, 2020, in front of the Ministry of Culture and the massive popular protests on July 11, 2021, which were suppressed with hundreds of arrests.
Camacho also demanded the unconditional release of political prisoners. "The prisoners for whom I am asking for freedom would not be imprisoned if it didn't require the intervention of the Pope or any third party."
His criticism of the regime was direct: "If they could see us and feel us, we would be a country able to rise from the truth and not from a discourse that promises and does not fulfill, or worse yet, that only fulfills threats and administers justice with the selectivity of one who does not know what is just."
Camacho concluded with a phrase that encapsulates his diagnosis of present-day Cuba: "I feel an infinite sadness for what we are today. It's shameful."

This publication adds to a series of critical statements made by Camacho in 2026. On August 1, she questioned the package of 176 economic measures approved by the National Assembly. She stated that they were creating "a tailored suit" for those in power.
Days later, she published "Get out and go, we don't need you", a message addressed to both the Cuban government and the United States, denouncing that "neither of them thinks about the Cubans."
In July, she had already stated: "I am against the Cuban government because the Cuban government is against Cuba".
