The informal currency market in Cuba opens this Sunday with the US dollar unchanged at 673 Cuban pesos (CUP), while the euro experiences a new decline, now standing at 778 CUP. The Free Convertible Currency (MLC) hovers around 450 CUP.
According to , the dollar starts this Sunday at 673 CUP, the euro decreases from 782 to 778 CUP, and the MLC rises slightly from 449 to 450 CUP.
The stability of the dollar also extends to the weekly comparison: seven days ago, it was similarly at 673 CUP. Compared to 30 days ago, when it was at 668 CUP, it has gained 5 pesos, equivalent to 0.7%.
The euro shows a different trend. In addition to a decrease of 4.5 pesos (-0.6%) compared to the previous day, it is 7.5 pesos (-1%) below the level recorded seven days ago, when it was around 785 CUP. In the 30-day comparison, it is still 20 pesos above, a 2.6% increase from the 758 CUP at that time.
Exchange Rate Evolution
The MLC is currently 24 pesos (-5.1%) lower than the 474 CUP recorded seven days ago. Compared to the 449 CUP from 30 days ago, the change indicated by the index is only one peso (+0.2%).
In the past 30 days, the dollar has ranged between a low of 655 and a high of 675 CUP. The euro has fluctuated between 745 and 790 CUP, while the MLC has recorded values between 425 and 496 CUP.
As a reference, the current official rate for the population in Segment III of the Central Bank of Cuba places the dollar at 621 CUP and the euro at 717 CUP this Sunday. The MLC does not have a comparable official rate.
At the average value recorded this Sunday in the informal market, the main denominations of dollars are equivalent to:
