Maluma, J Balvin, Ricardo Montaner, Camilo, and Manuel Turizo took to their social media this Monday to express solidarity with Colombia after the 7.4 magnitude earthquake shook the western part of the country in the morning, resulting in dozens of fatalities and severe damage in various cities.
The earthquake, with its epicenter in San José del Palmar, Chocó department, was registered at 7:34 a.m. local time and was felt in Bogotá, Medellín, Cali, Manizales, Pereira, Barranquilla, and even in Quito, Ecuador.
Maluma was one of the first to react with an Instagram story that left no doubt about his mood: "It hurts to see everything that is happening in Colombia, sending heartfelt hugs to all the families of the victims, and we are here ready to help. Later, we will share ways to assist those in greatest need. LET'S GO COLOMBIA. Now more than ever, we need that strength and unity."
J Balvin also took to his Instagram stories to send a message of encouragement and announce concrete action: "Sending strength to everyone affected by the earthquake in Colombia, strength to all the people and families impacted. Let's take action to help."
Ricardo Montaner, who has deep ties to Colombia despite his Venezuelan nationality, shared a story with his "prayers and thoughts, directed to #Colombia," and tagged @thehouseproject, the charitable foundation of his family that had already been activated months earlier in response to the earthquakes that impacted Venezuela in June 2026.
Manuel Turizo accompanied his message with the Colombian flag: "Much strength to everyone affected by today's tremor. I will be here keeping an eye on all the ways we can help. We are here to support each other."
Camilo, for his part, expressed anguish over what has happened and opened his direct messages to anyone who has information on how to help: “I know it just happened recently, and we still don’t know the extent of the losses caused by the earthquake that just struck my country. I have a knot in my stomach after hanging up the phone with friends who shared their experiences with me. What fear and what pain. We’re waiting to find out very soon what the best ways to help are so we can contribute. I’ll be checking my DMs in case you have information and calls to action. I love you all.”
The Colombian Geological Service described the earthquake as one of the strongest in the country in the past decade, and the Colombian government declared a national disaster due to the magnitude of the emergency.
For its part, the United States Geological Survey (USGS) issued an orange alert with an estimate of between 100 and 1,000 dead as the most likely scenario, a figure that contrasts with the preliminary count and underscores the uncertainty that still surrounds the actual magnitude of the tragedy.
