A Cuban content creator responded to the wave of insults she received after posting a video of herself cleaning her house on the island, clearly stating that she is ready for criticism but not for personal attacks.
@anaimahome, a TikToker who documents her daily life in Cuba, recorded a response video after realizing that her cleaning vlog had sparked a much more aggressive reaction than anticipated.
"I posted a blog where I clean the house, and that provoked all kinds of comments and more insults than I expected; they have literally said everything to me," she started in the 48-second clip.
Far from being intimidated, the creator from Viñales, Pinar Del Río, drew a line between what she considers legitimate and what she does not: "I know that when you share your life on social media, you are exposed to all kinds of opinions, and believe me, I am more than prepared for criticism. But one thing is to express an opinion, and quite another is to insult."
One of the points that generated the most commotion was the house itself, whose spaciousness and conditions caught the attention of thousands of users. Under pressure to explain the origin of the house, @anaimahome was firm: "The day I want to share the story of the house, I will do so because I feel compelled to share it with you, not because insults or negative comments have forced me to."
The comments section of the response video was mostly filled with support. Several followers praised the beauty of the property and attributed the criticism to envy. Someone reflected, "Very nice house. And that's why there’s so much pain from those who criticize and insult you because they see their frustrations in your life," to which the creator responded, "I believe that too."
"My house has a rental business, and that's why it has to shine because we are providing a service to people who pay for it, and what really came up for me was a lot because they can't see a Cuban living a little better," the user replied in a comment.
The case of @anaimahome is not isolated. Other Cuban women have experienced similar situations when showcasing their homes on TikTok, sparking debates around economic inequality, the support received from relatives abroad, and the gap between what is shown on screen and the reality faced by most Cubans, for whom the housing deficit is a long-standing issue.
In March of this year, another creator gave a strong response after facing mockery for showcasing her home, and in May, a Cuban showed her new house on the island, sparking a similar debate on social media.
@anaimahome closed her video with a message for those who support her: "I sincerely thank those who have supported me and left such beautiful comments," and she announced that she will continue to share content from her daily life, "cleaning, cooking, sharing my daily routine and creating content from my reality."
