The  records a downward trend in its main currencies this Wednesday, August 12, 2026.

The U.S. dollar is quoted at 665 Cuban pesos (CUP) in the informal market, with a buying price of 660 CUP and a selling price of 670 CUP. This represents a decline of 3 pesos compared to the previous day, when the average value was 668 CUP.

The euro is falling more sharply and is priced at 760 Cuban pesos (CUP), with a buying range of 750 CUP and a selling range of 770 CUP. The decline compared to the previous session is 8 pesos, down from 768 CUP that was recorded yesterday.

The MLC is around 441 Cuban pesos (CUP), with a buying rate of 420 CUP and a selling rate of 461 CUP, although its value should be considered indicative due to the scarcity of data available during this time period.

Exchange Rate Evolution

  • Exchange rate of the dollar USD to CUP: 665 CUP.
  • Exchange rate of the euro EUR to CUP: 760 CUP.
  • Exchange rate from MLC to CUP: 441 CUP (indicative value, limited data).

The official exchange rate of the Central Bank of Cuba (Segment III), at 624 CUP per dollar and 720 CUP per euro, remains well below the values that prevail in everyday practice in the informal currency market.

Although Segment III was introduced as a more flexible currency mechanism, its official rate remains significantly distant from that of the informal market and fails to meet the actual demand for foreign currency from the population.

The gap between the official and informal rates for the dollar exceeds 40 pesos, while for the euro it nearly reaches 40 pesos as well, a disparity that illustrates the disconnection between the formal economy and the daily reality of Cubans.

The CiberCuba Exchange Rate is an index of the informal Cuban market created through the automated analysis of thousands of currency buying and selling posts in Telegram and Facebook groups. The calculation disregards atypical offers and spam messages, weighs each transaction based on its age, and consolidates a representative value that is updated several times a day.
