The informal currency market in Cuba begins this Sunday with mixed movements: the United States dollar remains stable at 664 Cuban pesos, while the euro has declined to 758 pesos and the MLC (Freely Convertible Currency) has fallen to 446 pesos.

The  show the dollar at exactly the same level as the previous day.

The euro, on the other hand, drops from yesterday's 760 pesos, with a variation of -2.5 pesos (-0.3%), while the MLC registers the most pronounced movement, decreasing 11 pesos (-2.4%) from the 457 of the previous day.

The daily stability of the dollar does not prevent it from remaining below its value from a week ago. Seven days ago, it was around 673 pesos, which means it has accumulated a decrease of 8.5 pesos (-1.3%).

Exchange Rate Evolution

The euro also shows a more noticeable decline when the comparison is expanded. Seven days ago it was around 778 pesos, and now it stands at 758, a loss of 20 pesos (-2.6%).

In the case of the MLC, its indicative value is positioned four pesos below the 450 pesos recorded a week ago, equivalent to a decline of 0.9%. The gap between the buy and sell offers and the smaller amount of data recommend caution when interpreting this reference.

The photograph changes when looking back a month. The dollar was then at 655 pesos, so the current value represents an increase of 9 pesos (+1.4%).

The euro was at 755 pesos and is now 2.5 pesos higher (+0.3%), while the MLC has increased from 442 to 446 pesos, a rise of 4 pesos (+0.9%).

In the past 30 days, the dollar has reached a high of 675 pesos and a low of 656; the euro has fluctuated between 755 and 790 pesos; and the MLC has ranged between 413 and 496 pesos. The current exchange rates indicate a much more stable market for the dollar and euro compared to their recent highs.

As an additional reference, the official rate from the Central Bank of Cuba for Segment III places the dollar at 628 CUP and the euro at 727 CUP this Sunday. The MLC does not have an equivalent official rate.
