The Northglenn Police Department in Colorado issued a public safety alert this morning in search of the Cuban Alexei Munive Rodríguez, 48 years old, identified as a suspect in a homicide that occurred on Friday night in that city in the northern metropolitan area of Denver.
According to the official statement from the Northglenn Police, officers responded shortly after 10 PM on Friday to a report of a stabbing in the 10500 block of Irma Drive, where they found a victim with knife wounds. Despite attempts to save their life, the person was pronounced dead at the scene.
The authorities quickly identified Munive Rodríguez, a native of Ciego de Ávila and a barber by profession, as a suspect and issued an alert to all public order agencies in the state of Colorado.
The victim, identified on social media by family members as Mayle Braustein, would be the wife of the suspect; however, the police statements and local media in Colorado available so far do not explicitly confirm either of those two pieces of information.
As part of the search, an agent from the Lincoln County Sheriff's Office attempted to stop a vehicle linked to the investigation.
The driver did not stop, which triggered a chase that ended when the vehicle crashed near Lamar, in the southeastern part of the state, about 180 miles from Northglenn.
The driver fled on foot and remained at large by the time the reports were concluded, although the authorities did not explicitly confirm whether he was Munive Rodríguez.
Lamar is located in Prowers County, near the border with Kansas, which suggests that the suspect attempted to flee in the opposite direction of Denver.
The police described Munive Rodríguez as armed and dangerous and warned the public not to approach him under any circumstances. "Do not attempt to contact, follow, or confront him. If you see him, call 911 immediately," the department stated in its announcement.
Multiple state agencies in Colorado are participating in the search coordinated by the Northglenn Police Department, led by Chief James S. May Jr. The case has been registered under number 26-4717.
This is not the first time a case of violence linked to Cubans has been reported in that northern area of the Denver metropolitan region. In January 2024, authorities investigated the murder of the young Cuban Sachely Díaz in Federal Heights, a city adjacent to Northglenn.
In recent months, other similar cases involving Cubans have been reported in various states: in Las Vegas in May, and in Missouri and Dallas earlier this year.
In Tennessee, in April 2025, authorities arrested a Cuban wanted for the murder of his ex-wife.
The investigation remains active, and authorities indicated that they will provide additional information as the case progresses without compromising the inquiries.
