The official account of the White House on Instagram recently posted a video generated with artificial intelligence that mimics the famous opening sequence of Game of Thrones, culminating in the Oval Office transformed into a medieval hall and the presidential desk turned into the Iron Throne, with an American flag in the background.
The clip, titled "The Capital: Reclaimed," accompanied by the message "Order has been restored. The capital has been reclaimed," features monuments of Washington, D.C. set to the soundtrack of the HBO series, with gears and animated maps in the style of medieval fantasy that characterize the production.
The video could be interpreted simply as political humor, but it sparks debate, especially due to its publication in the midst of primary elections like those in Miami-Dade, scheduled for this Tuesday. On that day, federal, state, and local positions will be at stake.
Reactions on social media to Donald Trump's Iron Throne
The video accumulated over three million views and has thousands of comments. The reaction on social media was quite critical of President Donald Trump. One of the most supported messages quotes the character Tywin Lannister: "Any man who has to say he is king is no true king."
Other comments pointed out the underlying contradiction: "He had to use AI junk because the real capital is in shambles right now," wrote one user.
Another asked sarcastically, “How many copyrights can an administration violate?” referring to the fact that HBO has never authorized the use of its aesthetic for political purposes.
Some pointed out the end of the series as an unintentional warning: "Clearly, whoever did this does not know how Game of Thrones ends." And someone else added, "Correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought the idea of not having a throne was a fundamental American concept."
Even a declared supporter of Donald Trump admitted the irony in this political message: «It's the Mad King… I'm a Trump supporter, but... How is it possible that the left didn't even make that joke?».
The administration has systematically utilized this type of content that plays with references or milestones from popular culture. In May, Trump appeared as a Mandalorian from Star Wars; in April, as Jesus Christ and as Atlas holding the world in June. Now he clearly establishes who sits on the Iron Throne.
