A woman ended up in an emergency room after undergoing a smile design that, according to what she was warned before the procedure, she did not need. The case was documented in a 30-second video published this Wednesday by the TikTok account @croquetasdivinas, and it quickly spread across social media.
In the clip, the person recording —apparently a family member or companion— reproaches the protagonist for insisting on the procedure despite previous warnings.
"When you think a smile design seems harmless, look at where it can lead," says the voice in the video, before turning directly to the affected person: "I told you your teeth were perfect. There was no need to do any smile design, but you insisted. And look where we ended up—in an emergency."
The video concludes with the promise to reveal the details of what happened once the protagonist has recovered: "Later, when she feels better, we will tell her what happened with the procedure for her smile design."
The clip does not specify which exact complication led to the visit to the emergency room, but the case revives the debate about the risks of undergoing aesthetic dental procedures without a real clinical indication.
This is not the first episode of this kind circulating within the Cuban community. In November 2025, a Cuban woman shared her bad experience on social media after getting a resin smile design: several pieces became discolored, fractured, and one was completely detached. The affected individual acknowledged that she was motivated by what she saw on social media and warned that the subsequent expenses to repair the damage could exceed the initial savings.
The trend has grown, driven by Cuban public figures who showcase their dental transformations on digital platforms. Bebeshito, La Dura, Lenier Mesa and candidates for Miss Cuba Universe have displayed their smile designs in recent months, fueling a demand that sometimes overlooks clinical judgment.
Specialists warn that a poorly planned smile design can cause irreparable damage, including dental sensitivity, gum inflammation, irreversible enamel wear, fracture or detachment of restorations, and bite problems.
In the most severe cases, damage to the dental nerve may require root canal treatment. When symptoms such as progressive facial swelling, fever, pus discharge, or difficulty breathing or swallowing occur, the situation demands emergency attention.
The video from @croquetasdivinas garnered over 115,000 views and more than 1,100 shares within a few hours, making this case one of the most alarming warnings circulating about the dangers of undergoing such procedures without clinical necessity or appropriate professional supervision.
The exact details of what happened to the protagonist remain to be revealed until she can tell them herself.
