Georgina Rodríguez married Cristiano Ronaldo on August 11 in the living room of their home in Cascais, Portugal, without a wedding dress, without a castle, and without guests: only their five children as witnesses. But while the ceremony was of an almost radical simplicity, the bride's neck told a completely different story.
About her minimalist white silk jacket and skirt set —designed by Gucci, the same brand where the couple met a decade ago— Georgina wore the Chopard Garden of Kalahari necklace, a piece valued at around 50 million dollars with a central stone that is a 50-carat D color diamond —the purest there is— with Flawless clarity. In total, over 250 carats of diamonds adorned her.
The contrast couldn't be more striking. Georgina admitted to Vogue magazine that she deliberately gave up the grand spectacle: "As a child, I dreamed of the biggest castle, the grandest carriage, the longest dress, and a crown full of diamonds. And now I say: 'No. I want something intimate, with my partner and our children, at home.'" The carriage was left out, but the diamonds found their place.
The jewel has a story as extraordinary as its price. It all began with a rough diamond weighing 342 carats, named The Queen of Kalahari, discovered in 2017 at the Karowe mine in Botswana. The artistic director of Chopard, Caroline Scheufele, transformed it into 23 individual diamonds over a year of work, creating six pieces of High Jewelry where each stone becomes a flower: the 50-carat brilliant is a sunflower, the 26-carat heart a pansy, and the 25-carat pear a banana flower.
And here comes the nod to Beyoncé: the same necklace sparkled at the 2026 Met Gala around the singer's neck, although she wore it without the three detachable elements. Georgina took it a step further and wore them as earrings: one with a pear-shaped diamond of 25 carats and the other with a heart-shaped stone of 26 carats, showcasing the piece in its most complete version.
The bridal look was completed with an emerald-cut diamond bracelet, two rings from the same collection, and the engagement ring that Cristiano gifted her exactly one year prior, valued by experts at between three and five million dollars. According to some estimates, the total set of jewelry she wore that day could reach 75 million dollars.
For the marriage alliance, on the other hand, the couple chose simple smooth gold rings. This blend of symbolic austerity and extravagant jewelry perfectly encapsulates the spirit of a wedding that Georgina described as "intimate, full of love, and with our family as the undeniable protagonist."
The couple has already mentioned that they will host a big party with friends and family in the future, which means that the wedding dress—and perhaps another display of diamonds—is still on the way.
