The crown of Miss Universe Cuba 2026 did not go to Lorena Suárez, but the representative from the Central Region wasted no time in making it clear that her story is far from over. This Friday, the young woman shared an emotional story on her Instagram account, where she candidly acknowledged, disarming her followers: the nerves got the better of her right at the final question of the competition.
"I know that I didn't give my best response and that in that moment, nerves got the best of me while speaking in Spanish, but I also know that this does not define how far I can go," Lorena wrote in her message addressed to her so-called "blue tide," the community of fans that supported her throughout the competition.
Far from dwelling on her disappointment, the young woman announced her return for the next edition with a determination that few expected to see so soon after the gala. “This is not the last you’ll see of me. I am going to prepare diligently, especially in my Spanish speaking skills, because my dream remains intact: to come back for that Miss Universo Cuba crown and then conquer the Universe,” she promised.

To exemplify that this path is possible, Lorena didn't have to look far: she only needed to observe the winner of the night. Mia Dio, the new queen, achieved the crown after a triumphant return following a fifth-place finish in the 2025 edition, even competing with facial paralysis just days before that gala.
"And what better example than our queen Mia. Last year she finished as the fifth finalist, returned more prepared, strengthened her public speaking skills, and today she wears the crown. Her story reminds me that a result does not determine the end of a dream; sometimes it simply shows you that you need to work to come back stronger," wrote Lorena, turning someone else's triumph into her own fuel.
Lorena Suárez doesn't arrive at this moment without credentials. She was Miss Intercontinental Cuba 2025 and the first runner-up in the international final held in January 2026 in Sahl Hasheesh, Egypt. In Miss Universe Cuba 2026, she ranked fourth ahead of the gala and, during the competition, faced controversy on social media in July when she reported attacks from fans of other candidates. She did not withdraw then, and she is not giving up now.
She was not the only favorite who went home without a crown. Daniela Reyes, representative of Pinar del Río, also reacted to her result with an Instagram post that combined her evening gown with a pizza, a gesture that her followers celebrated with over 26,900 likes.
Lorena's closing message left no doubt about her intentions: "When I step back on that stage next year, I want you to meet a Lorena who is more prepared, more confident, and able to express with her words everything she carries in her heart. Be ready for next year. This is just the beginning."
