A Cuban émigré named Yucnier finally fulfilled his dream of returning to his homeland, although his first trip back did not happen under the circumstances he had envisioned: a very close person, who by the images seems to be his mother, was hospitalized in Cuba.
The user @yucnier.prez posted a 36-second video on TikTok titled "My First Trip to Cuba", in which he shows his arrival at the hospital and the emotional reunion with the hospitalized person. Although Yucnier does not explicitly confirm their relationship, the images strongly suggest that it could be his mother.
It was in the comments where it became clear that behind this anticipated return there was also a painful reason.
"My God, what a great pain it is to have to return, and for the reason to be a hospital, how sad," wrote a follower. Yucnier responded with a few words: "Exactly, it's not easy."
The exchange makes it clear that the hospitalization of a loved one marked this first return to Cuba, a trip that had been long dreamed of and was ultimately accompanied by the worry of reuniting with someone important to him within the walls of a hospital.
The video of Yucnier adds to the numerous returns to the island that emigrated Cubans share on social media. Reunions at airports, family surprises, and hugs after years apart have become common scenes on TikTok. However, not all journeys back home occur under the ideal circumstances: sometimes, an illness or a family emergency hastens a return that has been long-awaited.
