Five years of distance, dreams, and waiting condensed into a hug. The Cuban influencer Esmeralda Deulof shared an emotional video on her Instagram account showing the moment she embraces her grandmother, aunt, and uncle in Cuba after half a decade without seeing them.
The clip features an overlay of text that says it all: "So much time dreaming of this... after 5 years, I was able to hug you again. Thank you, Jehovah."
In the post, Esmeralda described in simple words what she felt upon reuniting with her loved ones: "After five years, I was finally able to hug my family again. My grandmother, my aunt, my uncle... There are no words to explain what my heart felt at that moment. Some hugs heal years of distance and remind us that, in the end, family will always be our safe place."
The trip to the island was made accompanied by her boyfriend, the singer Charly —Carlos de Jesús Coronado Chirino, a member of the urban music duo Charly & Johayron—, to whom Esmeralda dedicated some heartfelt words in the same post: "Thank you, my love, for being with me at such an important moment and for being part of a memory I will cherish forever in my heart."
Charly quickly responded in the comments with the same warmth: "Happy to have been part of something so beautiful for you, knowing how much you needed it."
The couple made their relationship public in April 2026, and since then they have shared several milestones together. Last month, Charly purchased his first house in Miami, and Esmeralda was by his side during the signing and the celebration.
The publication of the reunion resonated with thousands of Cubans in the diaspora who saw themselves in that image. "That embrace is everything that is good. Only those of us with families far away know how it feels," wrote one follower. Another added, "The most desired embrace for those of us outside Cuba, blessings to your family."
