A tank truck from the Placetas Fire Command 6 collided this Wednesday with a house located on the Central Highway, heading towards Zaza, in that municipality of the Villa Clara province, according to the station CMEP Radio Placetas.
The vehicle was en route to respond to an emergency in the Benito Juárez Popular Council when it crashed into the entrance of a building located between Primera and Segunda del Sur, for reasons that are still unknown, the source reported.
The initial outcome of the accident was one injured person, the driver of the fire truck, who suffered an open head contusion, and material damage to the house.
The driver received first aid at the Daniel Codorniú Pruna Hospital in Placetas and was subsequently transferred to the Neurosurgery department of the Arnaldo Milián Castro Hospital in Santa Clara.
The delegate of MININT in the municipality confirmed the information to the local radio and noted that the authorities present at the scene were assessing the damages at the time of the reports. The exact causes of the accident remain under investigation.
Numerous neighbors gathered at the scene of the incident, as shown in images shared on social media. The truck was embedded in the facade of the building.
Villa Clara is one of the provinces with the highest rate of traffic accidents. In 2025, more than 600 accidents were recorded in the province, resulting in dozens of fatalities and hundreds of injuries, a trend that has continued into 2026 with several serious incidents on the Central Highway and other roads in the area.
In May, a truck accident in Placetas resulted in two fatalities and 13 injuries.
Emergency vehicles often travel at high speeds to respond to urgent calls, which increases the risk of incidents on heavily trafficked roads like the Central Highway that runs through the municipality of Placetas.
