A tanker truck from the Fire Command 6 of Placetas collided this Wednesday with a house located on the Central Highway, heading towards Zaza, in that municipality of the province of Villa Clara, according to a report by the station CMEP Radio Placetas via its social media.
The accident occurred when the unit was en route to respond to an emergency in the Benito Juárez Popular Council.
For reasons that are still unknown, it ended up colliding with the entrance of a building located between First and Second of the South.
The initial outcome of the incident was property damage to the house and one injury: the driver of the fire truck, who sustained an open head contusion.
The driver received first aid at the Daniel Codorniú Pruna Hospital in Placetas and was subsequently transferred to the Neurosurgery department of the Arnaldo Milián Castro Hospital in Santa Clara, the main hospital reference center in the central region of the country.
The MININT delegate in the municipality confirmed the information to the local radio station and noted that the authorities present at the scene were assessing the damage at the time of the reports. The exact causes of the accident remain under investigation.
Numerous neighbors gathered at the site of the incident, as shown in images shared on social media. The truck was embedded in the building's facade.
Villa Clara is one of the Cuban provinces with the highest rate of traffic accidents. In 2025, over 600 accidents were reported in the province, resulting in dozens of fatalities and hundreds of injuries, a trend that continued in 2026 with several serious incidents on the Central Highway and other roads in the area.
In May, a truck accident in Placetas resulted in two fatalities and 13 injuries.
Emergency vehicles often travel at high speeds to respond to urgent calls, which increases the risk of incidents on busy roadways such as the Central Highway, which crosses through the municipality of Placetas.
