A burned and decapitated body was found this Saturday in an area located behind the hemodialysis unit of the provincial hospital of Camagüey Manuel Ascunce Domenech, according to information shared by journalist José L. Tan Estrada on his Facebook profile.
The gruesome discovery occurred on the path that patients and staff use to exit the Hemodialysis area, a passage described by neighbors as a place littered with garbage and with very little space to walk.
It was some children who discovered the remains, according to information received by the communicator.
The independent medium La Hora de Cuba indicated through its Facebook profile that the event would have occurred between 4:00 PM and 5:00 PM this Saturday.
There are also reports that the victim was murdered, burned, and subsequently covered with garbage to conceal the crime, although this detail has not been officially confirmed.
So far, the identity of the victim and the exact circumstances of the incident are unknown. No Cuban authority has issued a public statement or announced the opening of an investigation.
The public reaction on social media reflects a mix of horror and outrage. "Camagüey must be the most violent province in Cuba today," wrote a resident.
Another comment noted: "Every week, every day, every minute, it's already a different horror story. The worst part is that there is no severe judgment, and the criminals continue to hunt human beings."
A neighbor from the province described the situation in stark terms: "Camagüey is becoming the wild west of Cuba. Crime is on the rise; now young people are riding scooters, their heads and faces covered."
Other citizens pointed directly to impunity as the driving force behind the spiral: "As long as the measures are not severe in each case, we will continue to see much more. Violence is much cheaper than food itself."
The discovery shocks the public just a week after Carlos Estenos was found dead, tied up and burned in a rural area of the municipality of Vertientes, in the same province, in a case where the possible motive may have been theft of money and horses.
Camagüey has accumulated a series of highly serious crimes with extreme characteristics.
In June and July, at least three women lost their lives in the province in cases registered as femicides by the Gender Observatory of Alas Tensas.
The pattern of institutional silence is repeated in each of these cases, as the Cuban regime does not publish official crime statistics or provide updates on the progress of investigations.
The organization Cubalex documented 37 homicides in Cuba during July, the highest monthly figure since it began its monitoring, along with 168 incidents of violence and public insecurity and nine feminicides.
The Cuban Observatory of Citizen Audit recorded 2,833 verified crimes in 2025, an increase of 115% compared to 2024 and 337% compared to 2023, a trend that shows no signs of reversing so far this year.
