The death of a young Cuban known among his friends as Rodo has caused shock in Pinar del Río, after he passed away due to the serious injuries sustained in a moped accident that occurred around 4:00 AM.

The young man initially survived the accident and was subsequently operated on due to the severity of his injuries. José Luis Sánchez, one of the close friends who publicly followed his progress, informed on social media that the doctors had to amputate one of his feet and then requested a chain of prayer for his recovery.

"Prayer chain for our friend Rodo, who had an accident on his scooter and had a foot amputated," wrote Sánchez while the young man was still fighting for his life.

Later, Sánchez shared the news that family and friends had feared: Rodo had passed away as a result of the injuries sustained.

The testimonies shared on Facebook allow for the reconstruction of certain details of the incident, about which no official information has been released so far.

In response to a user who asked what had happened, Yusniel Alejandro Sempai, a friend of the deceased, explained that it was "an accident on a motorcycle, he and another person at 4:00 a.m.," confirming that two young men were traveling on the vehicle.

Sempai himself placed the accident "on Bazar Street," while Elizabeth Sánchez, another person who reacted to the death, referred to the accident that happened "in front of the terminal." The woman also stated that she had seen Rodo just two hours before the incident.

The comments also mention a person named Yosuany, although there is not enough evidence to determine if this was the second young man involved in the accident.

When a user asked how the other young man was doing, Sempai replied, "I believe the one driving has also died." Another acquaintance, Roilan Cabrera, later left a message mentioning a person named Yosuany alongside Rodo: "Rest in peace, brother. I know that God will have you and Yosuany in His holy glory."

The coincidence of both comments suggests that Yosuany could be the other young man involved in the accident, but so far, there has not been enough information to confirm his identity or to ascertain with certainty that he was the second occupant of the motorcycle.

Rodo's death prompted numerous expressions of sorrow among family, friends, and acquaintances in Pinar del Río.

Sempai remembered him as a young man who was "always cheerful" and stated that he would be missed by "both rockers and non-rockers in Pinar," a testament to his recognition in various circles of the city.

Ximenita Alonso recounted that she had seen him for the last time on Wednesday, August 26, at the Hermanos Saíz Association (AHS), where they shared a coffee. In her farewell, she recalled that meeting which, unexpectedly, turned out to be the last.

Other messages particularly expressed sorrow for the young man's mother. Several acquaintances agreed that they shared a very close relationship. One of the commentators identified her as Mary and recalled that mother and son "were always together."

“How much sorrow for that mother who adored him so much,” expressed another message published after the news of his passing.

Farewells multiplied on Facebook. Some referred to him as a "great friend," others as "brother," while several people identified themselves as relatives of the deceased. One of his cousins summarized the impact of the news with a simple "at a loss for words."

So far, neither Rodo's full name nor his age have been revealed, and the exact causes and circumstances of the accident are also not officially known.
