Miguel Vargas, Yordan Álvarez, and Randy Arozarena hold the top three positions in runs scored in the American League, showcasing impressive Cuban dominance in the current Major League Baseball season.
According to data published by Pelota Cubana USA on Facebook, "the top three positions belong to Cuban players," with Vargas leading the circuit with 93 runs scored, followed by Álvarez with 92 and Arozarena with 89.
Álvarez added his 92nd career hit on Thursday in the game between the Houston Astros and the White Sox. The designated hitter born in Las Tunas is having an elite season: a batting average of .316, 37 home runs, 94 RBIs, and an OPS of 1.035, putting him in contention for the Triple Crown.
Vargas, third baseman for the Chicago White Sox, is having a historic season for the franchise: in 139 games, he boasts a .251 batting average, 29 home runs, 76 RBIs, and an OPS of .847, in addition to being selected for the 2026 All-Star Game.
Arozarena, now a naturalized Mexican, completes the podium with the Seattle Mariners after tallying 89 runs in 123 games, a season in which he also made history as the first Cuban to reach six consecutive seasons of 20 home runs and 20 steals in MLB.
Cuban dominance doesn't stop at the podium: the Cuban-American Zach Neto of the Los Angeles Angels ranks fourth with 88 runs scored, while Yandy Díaz, first baseman for the Tampa Bay Rays, stands with 80 in the top 10 of the American League.
